Although Pastor Terry Jones stopped short of burning a Koran, he didn't have to actually do it because he had already set a spark to the dry timber of Tea Partiers and nut jobs out there ready to do it FOR him.

N.Y. Mayor Bloomberg defended the right to burn on free speech grounds while saying it was distasteful:

But as you can see in the video the media was all over the Koran burner. These fanatics knew that just as the Middle East went nuts over Salman Rushdie and a cartoonist in Europe, they would go nuts over burning the Koran. They were rioting even on the threat of the burning. Now the reaction will give the Koran burners the excuse to say, "See? We TOLD you they were nuts."

And as the religious war erupts they will say one other thing, either explicitly or by implication, ***WHICH WAS REALLY THE WHOLE POINT IN THE FIRST PLACE***:

"There may not have been a huge increase in radical Muslim terrorism lately but we got us a Muslim perzidoont in that thar White House named HUSSEIN Obama! Dermacrits is all Muslim!!! Better vote Republican!!!!!!!!!!"

They wanted a religious war and since the right wing controls the media they will put their own caption on it: This religious war was caused by THE DEMOCRATS. VOTE GOP!!!!!!

This is all about getting the goopers to the polls in a state of hysteria.

And it looks like they succeeded. Jones comes out of this with his hands looking "clean" because, "Who me? I didn't do it..." But he got what he wanted. Of course there will be Muslims out there who will react.


Now the hicks from the sticks will all scream, "Dang! How can you sit there votin Dermacrit while they're burnin our Bibles!???!!!"

There are also a long series of ABC - TV videos on that page (in sequence) though they are from before the pastor canceled. The videos underscore the pressure not to burn and the insistence that we are not anti-Muslim. But once word of the actual Koran burning and the video of it spreads to the Muslim world all those nice speeches are going to mean little.

One video says the FBI has directly asked Jones not to do the burning. And the video says Jones says he has been threatened and has guns ready to defend himself.

The videos there also show a truck with lots of firewood and has Jones saying he has over two hundred Korans at the ready to be burned. I wonder what he's going to do with all that stuff now that he says he's not going to burn them.

Near Nashville, Tennessee, evangelical Pastor Bob Old and another preacher used lighter fluid and a lighter to burn at least two copies of the Koran in his yard.
