to read about idiocy on the part of some individuals and then reflexively insult all the residents of a state - or even an entire region of the country. This could just have easily happened in Florida or any other locale throughout the country, as idiocy knows no geographic bounds.

There once was a DU member who harbored a pathological hatred for people & institutions from the deep south, going so far as to fantasize openly about recreating General William Tecumseh Sherman's march to the sea - relishing the thought of a scorched-earth campaign that leaves death & destruction in its wake. After receiving a two-week suspension, he dropped the Gen. Sherman shit for the most part, but he persisted in posting single-word posts - the name of the state - whenever something happened in a place he didn't like.

If it wasn't the south-bashing, perhaps it was due to the incessant stream of posts damning the eyes of the entire generation of Americans known as the baby boomers - all 76 million of them. Whatever. Between boomers & southerners (and presumably republicans & conservatives), the guy hated a big ol' segment of Americans, but he avoided the granite cookie for a very long time - and more's the pity. I'll never understand why he was tolerated on an ostensibly 'democratic' board for as long as he was allowed to spread hate & discord, but I celebrate his demise - along with that of anyone who has made a cottage industry of pissing off people by condemning where they live or when they were born.
