BRUTAL PIE CHART: Deaths from 9/11, War on Terror, & Iraq War
Will the apologists for Dems in Congress who supported the war (and thereby supported Bush), and still spew the same DC talking points, have the guts and honesty to respond to this?

I'm starting to think that this is indeed one of the main goals of those who started these wars...to ensure that the cycle of hate and violence would be such that no peace could be achieved..even if people wanted it

17. It's worth noting that the number of Iraqi casualties they use is one of the highest estimates.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Iraq_War#Total_Iraqi_casualties give all sorts of discussion of varying reliably, but estimates of the number of Iraqui casualties differ by a factor of 10; this graph appears to use one of the highest, and in general the much lower ones look to come from more reliable and less sensationalist sources. A hundred thousand or hundreds of thousands of deaths is still an awful lot, though.

It's the low estimates that are not credible. They come from the warmongers themselves, and their mouthpieces.

24. There's something missing from that chart...
What about the "bad guys"?
What about the Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, for example?
We didn't only cause "civilian" casualties.

And for the record... I was and am against both wars.
I just think that this chart is disingenuous.

40. I certainly expected these kinds of responses...
...so I am not surprised.

That being said... I would like to see this graph broken down a bit.
And yes, there are "bad guys" in the world, besides Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld.

"al Qaeda" destroyed the Twin Towers with the explicit goal of getting the U.S. mired in a land war in a Muslim country. It worked, because the Neo-Cons were looking for a "New Pearl Harbor" to enact their global domination agenda. Whether the Bush administration "let it happen on purpose" or "made it happen on purpose" is irrelevant. As is the fact that they lied us into the war in Iraq.

We became mired in not one, but two land wars in Muslim countries. Not everyone of the casualties in Iraq, for instance, is a civilian. Certainly there is a number of them who were foreign fighters who went to Iraq to kill American soldiers.

I do not think this tells the whole picture. How many casualties did we cause among combatants?
To call them all "civilian casualties" is disingenuous...

29. We could be generating a real hatred for those who started this war against not just the people of
Islam, but of the people of America as well. These wars took
away our rights and privileges, our money, our ability to
build our infrastructure, educate our people and invest in our
future. The mentality of the folks who caused these wars
ruined forever the American Dream. Don't blame your fellow
Americans, blame those you can directly connect to the horrors
that occurred from the scam called 911.

We have a lot to be angry about and we need justice or we need
revenge. The best revenge is to live well, so I would
advocate communication and planning with your fellow men and
women to recapture our money, our taxes, and our labor to
begin to grow without the use of their blood money and to
forbid any longer the use of our tax dollars and savings for
their insane purposes.

Makes logical and perfect sense that if our justice system
will not hold those accountable for doing this to this world,
then perhaps it will be left to those who are hit the hardest
to find revenge, be it Americans gone postal, or those Iraqi
and Afghani police we are training with our bucks who may come
traveling up the Mississippi in Trojan Horses funded by the
Tea Party to stage their Armeggedon, launched in a Gulf of
Mexico, unmanned by those who could protect us from such
things.

Let me be the canary in the mine and just point out that there
are reasons for all of this flooding, all of this destruction
of our coastal lands and given the evil these people are
capable of, we need to stretch out our minds to seek all
possibilities and to cause the obstruction of those
possibilities through preparation, not fear, as our guide.

Those creeps may have some big plans that need thwarting
yesterday.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
---Republican President Dwight Eisenhower

Perspective On 9/11 And The Invasions Of Iraq & Afghanistan

by government_employee on September 11, 2010 |

Total Casualties – Iraq & Afghanistan Civilians, US Military, and September 11th

Statical Comparisons

Iraq experiences 27.79 Fort Hood shootings a day and averages the equivalent casualties of September 11th every 8.23 days.

Afghanistan experiences 1 Fort Hood shooting a day and averages the equivalent casualties of September 11th every 231.24 days.

Iraq and Afghanistan combined experience 28.78 Fort Hood shootings a day and average the equivalent casualties of September 11th every 7.95 days.

In total, Iraq and Afghanistan have experienced the equivalent of 348 September 11ths or 79960 Fort Hood shootings.

Methodology

Iraq Civilian Casualties: There is high variance between various sources on the number of civilian casualties since the US-led invasion in March 2003. The only source to calculate Iraqi civilian casualties since the invasion is Iraq Body Count, which only counts bodies confirmed by the Western media, leading it to severely under-report the total number of civilians killed since March 2003. Correspondingly, other studies only cover specific time periods. For instance, the most recognized study conducted by Lancet and John Hopkins University in October 2006 listed over 650,000 killed. Data is then extrapolated to represent the March 2003 to September 2010 timeframe.

Afghanistan Civilian Casualties: Currently, no study exists that comprehensively covers the total civilian casualties since the October 2001 aerial campaign and subsequent invasion. Most studies focus on yearly statistics or casualties deriving from a specific method (aerial bombing, improvised explosive devices, etc.). When possible, yearly computations were combined or extrapolated to find a total, as was done in the excellent table provided in Wikipedia’s page on civilian casualties since the US Invasion.

Base Statistics: September 11 Victims: 2,974; American Casualties in Afghanistan & Iraq: 5697; Afghan Civilian Casualties: 45,799; Iraqi Civilian Casualties: 989788′ Total Iraqi & Afghan Civilian Casualties: 1035587; Average Daily Civilian Casualties, Iraq & Afghanistan: 374.18. Click here to download the spreadsheet used to calculate the above numbers.

39. Iraqi lives are worth less than american lives
havent met very many liberals or dems that agree with that, but by inaction and passive voice, most republicans and conservatives do.

Its just a fact for them. We were told that we could use "sticks" less than 30 inches in length to administer corporal punishment to iraqi children in an effort to keep them away from our heavy equipment and construction sites. As a lowly specialist I challenged the whole company chain of command, loudly in fact (retribution was to come months later), that if our families could see us over here, hitting kids with broom handles, wouldnt they be proud.
It worked from the bottom up. Getting that point across to my peers took the wind from the sails of the "leadership". No iraqi citizen or resident was ever assaulted by any of my platoon in that manner.
