When Boehner responded to Stephanopoulos's comments about his tan:
/snip ...Stephanopoulos presented the GOP leader with the results of a recent PPP poll that showed 30 percent of Ohio voters believe Boehner "spends too much time on his tan," while 27 percent "don't like his tan."

"Well, they probably didn't see me yesterday when I was out cutting my grass or riding my mountain bike, all right?" Boehner said with a smile. /snip

I've heard him use that excuse before -- especially the "out cutting my grass" one.

I'm wondering if there's any truth to that. If we hired a private detective to watch his Boehner's house for 30 days, do you think we'd see Boehner out there with his lawn mower, or do you think we'd see a truck full of gardeners show up every week?

33. Some people get addicted. I think it puts off depression. Perhaps Boehner
needs the uplifting tanning experience because he is conflicted about all the lobbyists he hangs with and accepts money from.

2. I very much doubt John of Orange mows his own lawn.
He probably hires undocumented workers to do it and pays them $2 an hour.

3. Cutting the grass is lingo.
It is a comment on populism of any kind.

That is lingo for removing popular energy on an issue.

Note grass is not weed, but there is always some weeds in grass.

The idea of cutting grass is used in many places when people talk about subduing populations.

36. In complete honesty.
There are multiple thoughts in almost everything, so wrapped around and around, that they say many things at the same time.

There is a truthful message, and another layer that some will think on and see fear, then another layer where others will see love, and another layer where some will see irony.

All can have some truth in them, and to me they prove but still let peoples hearts and minds decide.

It is how you choose to see it.

The same thing that could be seen as a trap for some, could be comfort and peace for some others.

7. Biden used to mow his, but I can't picture "Boner" in the same scene.
Perhaps it looks orange because his tan is mixing with the yellow tone from too much time in the bars. Didn't they say you could find him at the bar after 5:00? Gives you kind of an amber glow after all those years. Mixed with a good tan would turn out to be a bit orange, if I remember fingerpainting in kindergarten.

Just saying'.

Shit, it's been so dry here that my grass hasn't grown in 3 weeks. My poor Mexican grass guy (whom I love dearly) is looking for something else to bring in money while we have a drought.

12. I think it's a spray tan that he uses to cover
up the broken capillaries on his nose and face from his drinking. Just my humble opinion. Real tans even from tanning beds aren't that orange.

13. I don't know about Ohio, but grass has been dormant here in Michigan for a good month
the only thing that isn't brown and is growing are the weeds. If he has green grass, then he has a lawn service and they're cutting it.

25. If Boner has a "natural," from-the-sun, "tan,"...
...the only thing I can conceive of that would give him that bbq rub/roasted orange look, might be that, when he sweats, while mowing his lawn or riding his bike, the natural pig lard inside of him is mixing with the sweat, and he's basting in his own pig fat.

That's just a theory...

28. I read about 3 or 4 posts on the GP yesterday that clearly explained his tan.
They were about the NYT article exposing his many relationships with lobbyists (& all the free trips he gets to resorts).

Cutting the lawn? I wouldn't consider even for a moment that that's the secret of his tan, much less acknowledge how stupid he thinks we are.
