Short Attention Span Strategy
i've been thinking for about a month now that there is a huge possibility that dems are waiting until the last minute to really campaign.

i think there might be a strategy in place to capitalize on the short attention span of the public by waiting until the very last minute to campaign hard, when it counts the most - right before folks enter the voting booths.

all summer long we've heard noise from the repukes, but it's been eerily quiet on our side. maybe i'm just not paying as much attention as i normally do, or maybe i'm just being overly optimistic, but i think that's what we're witnessing. i think we're giving the RWers all the rope they want to hang themselves, which is delivering us sound byte after sound byte. we have a lot of good ammo to use against them. if they actually used it, at just the right time, this could be a nightmare for the GOP.

if they do this right, we could very easily overwhelm the GOP come November. i think, again this is purely speculative, the GOP may be looking at a loss.

am i over-thinking this or does this sound even remotely feasible?
anyone else getting this sense?

1. I've had the same thought...on the theory that Obama is the chess player.

3. i'm not thinking chess at all.
i think that because to me it looks like such a huge opportunity that i feel maybe that's how they're "engineering" it.

i think moreso, i'm hoping that's what they're doing. if they keep doing what they're doing now it's just a notch above nothing. and that will bring us all the losses we can fathom.

5. All politics are local
I think you are seeing a strategy that is more based upon not "nationalizing" the campaigns. Allow each race to be a "local" race on local issues about local candidates. The GOP on the other hand wants to make it all about Obama and Pelosi. You may not see alot of nationally based "get out the vote" campaigns. They will be run on a district level, getting out the democratic votes in districts where they are needed in tight races.

8. secondwind (post #6) makes a good point also though
in that Obama is going to be at 4 different places this week/today(?)

i definitely understand what you're saying, but there is a coordinated effort taking place. i think they need both approaches, both local and national, which is how it appears to be happening.

6. I think Obama is going to 4 different locales today, am I wrong? Or is it this weekend? Plus

I hear Mike Bloomberg, who is an excellent communicator, will be out there soon stumping.

My guess is that we have to hit hard starting NOW. Some skulls are very thick. :-)

9. didn't hear about Bloomberg. that's good news.
i would think it would even be beneficial for them to wait

as long as October 1st. just spend one month campaigning hard across the board.

the last voice, and the loudest voice, right before the lever gets pulled.

They have been keeping the powder dry for some reason, eh?

I do believe it is the PLAN. And I for one, will gladly do my part.

The last two weeks is when undecideds decide. Lets be there and help them make the correct decisions.
