He was on Regis' show this morning. He wants to buy the building where the mosque is going to be erected. He made an offer and so far it hasn't been accepted. He says he would buy the building and the whole protest thing would stop as they could build the mosque farther away from the original site. He than said those who want to build the mosque are "hard core". I guess he feels money will accomplish anything and maybe he is right. If the mosque gets moved can you imagine how this would embolden the nut jobs?

3. Last I had heard and who knows |

if it is so was that Trump made a laughable offer for a NYC property of 6 million. They said give us 25 million and its a deal. Trump acted like he had been insulted. So they are suppose to move their community center because a few bigots don't want it there, and let Trump rip them off too? They ask for the minimum of what it would cost for them to buy another building of that size in a decent location. How much you want to bet that where ever they move too people will decide it is too close. GOP has another election in 2 years that they will have to rile up their base for.

4. You are writing like the Cordoba Center is a sure thing outside of RW bigot protests |
|
That is far from true. There are any number of legitimate issues that could derail it at the current location including: They don't own all of the land No environmental studies Permit process has not started Any required remediation not studied Funding is not in place . . . Building anything large in NYC these days is a real PITA. Lots of paperwork complete with Catch-22s even for projects without any controversy. The overall success rate is fairly low, just ask anyone in commercial real estate development.
Cordoba House could fold at that location for those reasons or many more, not related in the least to the RW bigotry. From a commercial real estate perspective, Trump's offer is probably realistic given the challenges, may be even a bit high.
I never thought I would find myself defending Mr Bad Hair, but some of the nonsense being put forth on this is just silly. Since the owners of part of the land have indicated they are more than willing to sell for the right price, then any nobility is pretty much gone and its just down to the haggling.
