Heads up New York Democrats!!!! Election Day is Tuesday!
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 10:05 PM by Renew Deal
Election Day is Tuesday 9/14. There's one very important race.

The NY Attorney General race is essentially down to two candidates. The choice is between a true "progressive" Democrat (Schneiderman) and an out of state former republican (Kathleen Rice). It's a very close race with lots of undecideds. Many of us have shown interest in Eric Dinallo. He is a qualified candidate, but he has no chance of winning. Schneiderman is endorsed by almost every "progressive" organization that we trust including Howard Deans DFA and lots of unions. http://www.ericschneiderman.com/about?id=0002

Please come out and vote for Schneiderman.

You can learn a lot more about the AG race in this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=9100262&mesg_id=9100262

Another interesting Democratic primary is for Kristin Gillibrands seat. Kristin is going to win. But the latest poll out there has her up 63-12 vs her opponent (Gail Goode). Gail is not a great candidate. The main reason to vote for her opponent is as a protest vote against "the process." Gail is a "unapologeitc gun control advocate" or a "gun grabber" as our fellow DUers would say.

There are smaller races all over the state. http://www.elections.state.ny.us/NYSBOE/Elections/2010/Primary/2010CertifiedPrimaryBallot08162010.pdf

Most of the interesting races are with the republicans.

Lazio has a pretty damn good chance to get knocked off by a teabagger for governor (Paladino).

The NY Republican comittee designated candidate (Blakemen) is likely to finish in last place in a three way race for US senate.

Come out and vote. Don't let a republican from Pennsylvania beat a Democrat from NY.

There are some cranks on DU. This got a rec last night and today it's gone. Since when is telling people to go out to vote and giving them their options controversial? Unrec is a horseshit feature.

4. I will be voting in Charlie Rangel's district right after work.
Voting for Schneiderman for sure. I'd vote for Tasini for Congress but I don't like the way he ran this year, so I'm probably voting for Rangel as big fuck you to the media and rest of the country. :patriot:

5. I doubt you would like Tasini if you remember how he handled himself after losing to Hillary too.
He was anti-Democratic.

9. I remember some statements being made that were unhelpful to the Democratic party
I've looked a bit and can't find them.

10. Well this time I saw a lot of him in my UWS neighborhood and none of him in Harlem
which is the bulk of the district. Did he expect to win without Harlem, or just make life a little harder for Charlie Rangel? I also hated his dumb tactic of suggesting Rangel step down and let Tasini serve the rest of his term. Dumb dumb dumb dumb!

Powell sounds like a total self-centered sleazebag. I'll stick with Charlie (who's not as sleazy as he's made out to seem).
