Bill McKibben was just on David Letterman
http://www.billmckibben.com/eaarth/eaarthbook.html

Those warnings went mostly unheeded; now, he insists, we need to acknowledge that we've waited too long, and that massive change is not only unavoidable but already under way. Our old familiar globe is suddenly melting, drying, acidifying, flooding, and burning in ways that no human has ever seen. We've created, in very short order, a new planet, still recognizable but fundamentally different. We may as well call it Eaarth.

I'm not encouraged.

1. I was watching, too...
Though this was a repeat, so I saw him only a couple of weeks ago, but his message bears repeating.

I was also very interested when he said that they're bringing one of the solar panels that Jimmy Carter had originally installed back to the White House. They were moved to Unity College in Maine after Reagan had them removed...

Did you hear Letterman's comment? McKibben said that Michelle Obama had planted a White House garden and Letterman muttered that nobody objected to that because it didn't affect gas and oil... Letterman should have more guests like this. He obviously agrees with their message...

3. Damn! Thanks so much for the information...
And here I was all excited about it. If you couldn't tell, I'm a big fan of President Carter. :(

5. The White House already has solar panels.
It's odd that the article didn't mention it.

7. Deliberate omission.
Now all those low-infoers who support solar will have another reason to feel betrayed by Obama. :silly:

8. There's never a shortage
of eagerness to believe anything that might reflect badly on Obama.

4. The US Senate is criminally negligent. This is their most shameful hour.
It's discouraging how many people don't get it.
