Don't blame the Right Wing for the TV appearance deficit between Repubs and Democrats
Rather it's due to a policy adopted informally by most Democrats during the heyday of the Bush Regime, when when the American Corporate News Establishment (ACNE for short) was an outright ally of the Republicans and the Bush regime.

President Obama's campaign team couldn't stop mentioning how they were punishing Fox News for their bias when he was running for president by not appearing.

This tactic made perfect sense when Democrats did NOT hold a single major branch of government during the first term of the Bush Regime.

Appearing on any political shows risky for Democrats as otherwise less partisan TV talk shows became flippant and quick to join in the pile on Democrats endured at the hands of Fox News.

The demands by various News outlets for the White House "to give" Fox news, Helen Thomas' front seat was definitely a holdover "talking down to Democrats" behavior all to common during those years.

HOLDING POWER makes all the difference in the world. In truth things started to change for Democrats when they took legislative control in 2006!

Yet for some odd reason, Democrats have held to this policy long after it's outlived its usefulness even after it started to hurt their efforts to reach the public and sway them with the Democratic message.

Today, and for about 2 short more months, Pelosi as Speaker of the House only has to have her office ask to appear on any TV show, and while appearing get treated they way she expects to be treated as the Speaker.

Things could get terse, but as Speaker she would get respect, and NOT be treated dismissively as she was PRIOR to becoming speaker.

Honestly who thinks any major outlet of the American Corporate News Establishment (ACNE for short) would be uninterested in having her or any major Democratic officeholder on, especially in the run up to the midterms.

While their intentions for having her or any Democrat on would be low and shallow, it would still be in their hands how they came across.

A few could have a big advantage thanks to their endless lies.

Pelosi could turn their demonizing of her into an advantage as she would be/is totally underestimated, and her real self and positions almost unknown.

When reality contrasts so dramatically with what people have heard for so long, their minds change quick.

It's certain she would not validate any of the nonsense they say she says or believes.

It's so outrageous, but because it's unchallenged when they watch, it becomes true for many.

It's much harder to dismiss the views and beliefs of a person when you've heard them talk and they sound rationale, kind and caring like the young looking grandmother Pelosi is rather than the crone they paint her as being.

Pelosi and the entire Democratic team seems oblivious to the points their spotting their most ardent opposition.

As for any instances of rude treatment, disrespect that would happen with more appearances, especially on the more Right Wing shows Pelosi or any Dem. would gain points by calling out any host stupid enough to treat them so poorly.

Their only risk would be appearing cowed. Like I said being in power makes all the difference in the world.

Democrats have to lay to rest the notion that the American Corporate News Establishment STILL tries to minimize their appearances vs. a vs. Republicans. If this were true, than MSNBC would/should be filled with appearances by Democrats, but it's not that much different than the media as a whole. How often have Reid and Pelosi appeared on Maddow or Ratigen Etc.

Does anyone really think O'Riley and the Right Wing Hit Team wouldn't jump at a chance to have any powerful Democratic legislature on?

In fact that whole network of libertaritard loons is always complaining that the Democrats refuse to show up.

Any Democrat who appears does NEED TO COME VERY PREPARED, for obviously right wing hosts in particular would be gunning to trip them up and then kick them.

By be prepared I mean "emotionally" as much as factually.

One thing that has always cost Democrats big time on TV is their tendency to lapse into long explanations when confronted with ad homimem attacks.

When attacked like that Democrats need to remember to use emotion and soundbytes. That's what people expect unfortunately from someone who's telling the truth when she or he is attacked that way. Long winded spocklike, factual defenses only set a person up for more attacks.

Keeping appearances to a minimum just gives the Right Wing ACNE opponents that much more time to spout their verbal garbage unchallenged.

Appearing would talk hours upon hours away from them and focus it on spreading their message.

To be sure, I AM NOT not referring to the likes of Limbaugh, but I am talking Fox News.

If they are not being asked, then they should ask, and they will get those spots.

It's a perk of being in power.

But rest assured they're being asked.

I can only assume that the 8 years under the Bush Regime has left the Democratic leadership so gun shy of political television they keep foregoing great opportunities to take the advantage away from Republicans.

I bet anyone that most Right Wing Tea Party types have witnessed few if any of their libertaritard fav. talking TV head treating leading Democrats like Pelosi with respect, because they never go on those shows enough and force the issue.

Merely being shown on their shows being treated with respect would go a long way toward discrediting everything their favorite ACNE fire thrower ever said bout their guest(s).

They truly expect Beck, Hannity's Etc., to hit spit, hit or shoot them. Failing to do that would turn their hero into a fraud

In the black and white mind of the extremist, Right Wing talking heroes do not sit and make nice with Democrats.

Democrats have less than 2 months to turn things around and prevent disaster in the Midterms.

To keep control in DC means remembering the vast majority of Americans still get their news and information from television, NOT the Internet or reading.

Continuing to cede that platform like Democrats did when out of power, when it didn't matter to the Right Wing Extremists and Republicans is one of the worst mistakes Democrats can do in the run up to the all too critical midterms.

Considering what's at stake, fully engaging the hostile Right Wing ACNE (American Corporate News Establishment) should be an easy decision to make.
