"You never really loved me"--Obama to Goldman Sachs

Goldman Sachs Shifts Majority Of Political Contributions To Republicans

n the latest example of former Obama supporters on Wall Street turning against the administration, Goldman Sachs has pledged more money to Republicans than to Democrats in this year's election cycle. It's the first time the firm has leaned Republican in at least 20 years. (Hat tip to The Street)

Data from the Center for Responsive Politics shows that in every election since 1990 (when the group started keeping records), Goldman has given most of its money to Democrats. This year, though, Republicans got 54 percent of its campaign money, up from 26 percent in 2006. With about $1.7 million in total funds (to Republicans and Democrats combined) donated so far, Goldman is, as usual, leading the Wall Street pack. Morgan Stanley is in second with $1.1 million.

Goldman isn't alone. As New York Times scribe Andrew Ross Sorkin noted recently that Daniel Loeb, the hedge fund manager and former Obama backer, wrote a flowery letter to investors in which he complained about the Goldman Sachs lawsuit and blasted the government for "pulling capital and power from the hands of some and putting it in the hands of others."

Billionaire hedge fund manager Steven A. Cohen, another former Obama man, reportedly held a secret meeting with Republican candidates at his Greenwich, Conn., mansion last month.

------------------------------------------------------------

Obama didn't really say that of course, but I'm sure that's how he feels. Particularly after staffing his office with Goldman Sachs plants such as Geitner and Summers.

3. Voters = Screwed up kids
Actually the hardest hurdle I've had in sucking it up and agreeing to vote this fall is the abused spouse syndrome. I was an abused child. I learned as an adult to avoid physical abuse from my partners and have been working hard at getting rid of the emotional abuse by same. And then along comes the Obama administration. So now I'm voting for the side that only beats me occasionally and generally not until I bleed. I divorce these bastards in a heartbeat if there was any other viable option.

4. what's interesting is the history of goldman's giving --
'Data from the Center for Responsive Politics shows that in every election since 1990 (when the group started keeping records), Goldman has given most of its money to Democrats. This year, though, Republicans got 54 percent of its campaign money, up from 26 percent in 2006.'

i'll note two things --

first: they're not giving NO money to the dems.

second: this money needs to get out of politics period -- goldman gets more of a say so with our reps than you or i.
which is problematic in the extreme.

The Aesop's fable of the serpent comes to mind.

10. Overriding Goldman's offer of $0.40 on the dollar from AIG
to $1.00 on the dollar isn't "working for them" - so I agree. It was more like a job interview.

He carried water for Paulson, and was the protege of Rubin and Summers. He is so their bitch. I'm certain there is a CEO or CFO seat waiting for him with his name on it when he's done at the White House.

7. Betcha the Tea Party Would Take Goldman Apart
which is what is needed around here...

By the way, Geithner ISN"T a Goldman--that's his next reward.

9. Ok.. a few things
1) I don't like Geithner either, I think he is far too chummy with the Wallstreet crowd and I think that hinders his ability to serve the American people.

2) I hate the tea party, asking them to take apart Geitner, or suggesting that they would do a good job at it is absurd.

For starters, progressives don't need a xenophobic, intolerant, greedy, bunch of racist corproate tools to take anyone apart'

And if you think the tea party is actually some kind of angry and truly anti-elitist populism then you need to look at who is financing the tea party.

12. The 'Baggers are too dumb to know Goldman is evil.

They are all for the "free market" and all that. And they are OK with corporate welfare too as long as John Boehner tells them none of it is going to immigrants or the poor.
