"Newt Gingrich used to be just vile. Now he’s pathetic, desperate, and vile."

Newt Gingrich, Mudslinger
By Matthew Rothschild
Editor, the Progressive magazine
September 13, 2010

Newt Gingrich used to be just vile. Now he’s pathetic, desperate, and vile.

The former disgraced Speaker of the House, who tried his utmost to get Bill Clinton impeached for sleeping with an intern when he himself was having an affair, has been trying over the past decade to reinvent himself.

First, he tried to make it as a thinker and a pundit, but now he’s trying to outPalin Palin for the Republican nomination.

He supplied the gasoline for the burn-the-Koran controversy by comparing those who want to build the Islamic community center to Nazis, and the center itself to a monument to Pearl Harbor.

Facts don’t matter to Gingrich.

Only mud matters.

And if he can sling it, and gain from the splattering, that’s all he cares about.

2. Rothschild is absolutely right
Unfortunately, the popular media just can't seem to quit Gingrich. No matter what he says or does, they keep running back to him, eager to catch the latest toxic drippings from his maw, and ready to pronounce it the sweetest ambrosia. Gingrich, of course, helps to make it happen by being relentlessly available, ready to step in whenever a lazy producer dials his number.

3. His trophy wife has lost her shine and he's desperate to get back
on stage as a headliner. Right now, he's failing around, trying to find the next big gimmick to outrage the booboisie into voting for him so he can get it all back.

Next up: flop sweat.

4. Newt the bleary toot is a piece of crap
whom no one wants so he makes himself more obnoxious trying to get attention. The vile ones, well they are the MEDIA that keeps giving him media space. He ought to be given outer space, but gee I bet the Aliens are too damn particular to want him either. Hey hidden republican, isn't it nice I can post this and you can't respond. If you do you'll get kicked off. Slug.

5. "..if he can sling it and gain from the splattering..." That's all he needs to do--
he plants the seeds and his teabaggin' ignorant toelicking followers spew the hatred and bigotry while he emerges unscathed by allegations of his own bigotry.

And our pathetic, dysfunctional press will never call him out on the tactic. :puke:

6. "...he tried to make it as a thinker and a pundit..."
"Thinker" being a relative term. For a Republican politician of national prominence, this means nothing deeper than the thinnest of veneers.

7. Gotta disagree
he’s always been pathetic, desperate, and vile. And hypocritical, vain, and just plain mean. There isn't a redeeming quality to be found in him.
