Why would the rich want low unemployment? Things haven't been this good for them in ages! |
|
Seriously - they can hire desperate labor on the cheap, they don't have to worry about crime, and the working folk are too scared to get organized.
This is what they've wanted for years - centuries even!
C-level management doesn't have to worry about Sexual Harassment or OSHA laws - all their workers would be too afraid to report them. In this economy.
And if labor does organize, all they have to do is whip out the useful idiots (aka Teabaggers) any time they want to stop them.

2. If the ordinary people get desperate enough, it won't matter. |

If they have nothing to lose, they will strike, protest, sit-in and gum up the works any way they can. I think that is how we had a successful union movement in this country in the first place. People had nowhere to go but up. Labor dragged management, kicking and screaming into the twentieth century. Now what about the twenty-first, everyone?
