Democrats tout "major" announcement Wednesday(where and when)

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine plans to make what's being billed as a major announcement Wednesday about the future of the party, according to a Democratic source with knowledge of the speech.

The source tells CNN that Kaine will announce something that hasn't been done in years and will excite Democrats across the country. Kaine's event comes as Democrats face the difficult task of holding onto their majorities in the House and Senate this November.

The speech, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at George Washington University, happens around the same time that Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele kicks of a major bus tour in support of Republicans running in the midterm elections. But the source says that the timing of Kaine event was in the works well before the date of Steele's kickoff was announced.

Kaine’s speech will begin at 12:30, and is hosted by the GW College Democrats.

Whistle Stop Tour... and right now, seeing how many Dems are willing to come out would be a really good thing. The RW is good at shouting people down, but that's about all their good at.

I mean, without short hop train service, the closest I can envision is regular ol' bus tours. Not very exciting, that.

47. Some people credit the Clinton/Gore bus tour in 1992
with putting them over the top.

A nationwide bus tour by the President to push the Administration's agenda and promote Democratic candidates might be a good idea.

The northeastern states typically have train stops in many places that are well populated.

23. An explicit rejection of the 50 state strategy
He's going to announce a blue state only strategy that will "focus" all available resources on propping up incumbents from reliabably Democratic states such as California, New York etc.

"I don't see how we can keep wastefully throwing money at the deep south and useless flyover states. I mean, these states don't have oil or Wall Street!" said Kaine on Tuesday

40. Considering that Tim Kaine is announcing it...
It likely isn't any new legislation, or even a concept that requires legislation to implement. It would almost have to be some sort of politicking, an election strategy, and for the life of me I can't think of anything he could announce in that regard that would be even remotely exciting.

Furthermore, it's Tim Kaine. Judging him on what I have heard from him in the past, I don't think he has a clue what he is doing, nor what would excite the Democratic voters. I hope I'm wrong and if I am I'll eat a generous helping of crow but I really doubt that will be the case.
