How to purge the Democratic party of the corporate influence? |
|
Is there any way to get the Democratic party back to the point where it represents the the public interest and the interests of working-class people, the disadvantaged and the physical environment - instead of what it does now which is basically represent the wishes of private corporations and the capitalist economic apparatus that they feed on? Specifically what must happen to get the Democratic party back to what it once was, and who makes it happen and how?

And it is not about the Democratic party in general, it is the fight between the two parties in a two party system when all things are accessed by party or individual money. As long as the parties need to fund their campaigns, propaganda, and activities with private money they will be controlled by the private money, and in the end the corporations have most of the money.
The politicians do not work for us, they work for the corporations and rich. Campaign finance reform would help move us in the right direction, as long as that reform brought all campaign funding into the public realm and put control into the hands of the people, not the highest bidder.

2. It's never going to happen... |

..as long as there are people who advocate that anyone with a D after their name is better than a republican, and as long as the democratic leadership (including and especially the president) campaign and put their dollars and power behind incumbents no matter how conservative or reprehensible, it's never going to change. Too many have been convinced and make their money out of convincing other democrats that without appealing to the blue dogs and conservatives that they'll never win elections.

...you gotta dig a little deeper in the well.
Sometimes you have to weed your garden if you want it to grow. That means you have to primary those Democrats that vote with the Repubs on the big issues.
