Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 06:38 PM by county worker
We all pay those taxes just about.

Why should someone who makes their living being self employed get out of paying taxes?

That canard about laying off workers is just that. If the guy has a business that is successful and it is labor intensive he will hire. If not he won't.

Now the question is does he pay a living wage or not. The economy and his success is dependent on consumers buying again.

2. Every individual is liable for those exact same taxes
Except individuals can't pass the expense along to our "customers." And, by the way, he could avoid interest and penalties by paying his fair share on time and in full.

13. Uhhh, pretty sure than other than income, they DO pay those...
they just get to write them off against income, unlike most of us (VLT, and non-reimbursed work expenses excluded)

For instance, if Walmart delivers a product from a distribution center, that truck needs plates, and pays fuel taxes.

7. Well if he doesn't want any of those things, don't get them.
However, there is a lot there that has nothing to do with the federal income tax. And the less you pay in federal income taxes, the more you pay at the state and local level.

If he doesn't want to support his country he can move it on out...Simple as that. I call bullshit on half of those he listed. I also am a small business owner and IMO he is just blowing a lot of smoke..I have never heard of half of those taxes.

I think it was called a excess profits tax until they realized how bad it sounds for me to be paying for the excess profits of one of the richest corporations in the country. So they changed the name.

33. That one jumped out at me - I had a business for decades and never paid that one
But then, I paid my taxes on time every quarter with my estimate payments. I never paid a "luxury tax" - his business must be doing much better than mine ever did.

Most of the rest of the taxes on the list are paid by every citizen whether or not they have a business.

Why are right wingers such whiny babies?

30. His business also benefits greatly from the commons.....
..... such as roads, the education system that allows people to grow up, get jobs and support his business, the streetlights that allow him to operate safely, the police and fire that assist him if something happens....... Funny how these business owners never remember these things when they start whining.

32. Tax bills in 2009 at lowest level since 1950
By Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAY

Amid complaints about high taxes and calls for a smaller government, Americans paid their lowest level of taxes last year since Harry Truman's presidency, a USA TODAY analysis of federal data found.
Some conservative political movements such as the "Tea Party" have criticized federal spending as being out of control. While spending is up, taxes have fallen to exceptionally low levels.

Federal, state and local income taxes consumed 9.2% of all personal income in 2009, the lowest rate since 1950, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports. That rate is far below the historic average of 12% for the last half-century. The overall tax burden hit bottom in December at 8.8.% of income before rising slightly in the first three months of 2010.

"The idea that taxes are high right now is pretty much nuts," says Michael Ettlinger, head of economic policy at the liberal Center for American Progress.

34. That's what the small business owner pays as well as the
worker and the professional who gets a salary. Those aren't the taxes the global businesses are paying that are sucking our economy dry. They aren't paying much over what they aren't getting back through the back door. Honestly, do you think when those overfed Repukes get up there and whine about this that they are thinking about you?

He's listing all the taxes he pays in life, & the rest of us pay most of them as well. Several on his list are weird distortions in the bargain.
