Who was Kristen Gillibrand's primary opponent tonight
I just got back from voting in NYS and was suprised to see that Gillibrand was being challenged. It wasn't Jon Tasini, it was a lady that I have never heard of.

Anyone know who she is? I'm searching now for info

1. Gail Goode
She's a prosecutor from downstate. I heard of her because I inexplicably got an e-mail from her. Her website isn't coming up just now, but I did find this on Daily KOS... :hi:

3. You're more than welcome, my friend.
I found it odd that I got an e-mail from her because I'm obviously biased towards Gillibrand and am on her mailing list because she was our rep in NY-20...

I liked Kathleen Rice. I was just reading about her in the NY forum and she doesn't seem that popular here, but I looked her up when I first saw signs for her and she's pro-choice, anti-death penalty, pro-environment, pro-gay rights and opposed the Rockefeller drug laws. Sounds pretty progressive to me... :)

5. Wasn't she a big Bush supporter and a life long Republican?
She was the reason I voted for that Shnider.. dude...
I didn't want a dem that has only been a dem for three years, was a life long republican, and worked for Bush..

Odd how we came out so different on this one - but then again I spent all of three minutes doing research, lol..

My republican parents were very excited to get to pick who would lose to Cuomo, Shuemer, Gillibrand, and Hinchey.. Big day for the GOP!

7. I guess I didn't do enough research, either, but I really did like her views on everything...
Odd that her website didn't mention any ties to Bush*... ;)

And, IMHO, Cuomo's got it wrapped up. Last I heard, Lazio and Paladino were in a dead heat. Lazio's a perennial loser and Paladino is just a bigoted creep. He apparently sent out racist e-mails about the president and his excuse is that he's just a construction guy, so didn't know better, thought they were funny and passed them on. Sheesh. He's actually a millionaire. I never thought that I'd be rooting for Lazio (who my FReeper family had their pix taken with here in Glens Falls when he ran against Hillary...), but Paladino is the lowest... x(

BTW, I first heard of Paladino because I got a political poll call about him. I'd never heard of him, either, so looked him up, too. Turns out that I totally disagree with him on every single issue... x(

9. Hi mdmc
I voted for the Scheiderman guy too. I didn't like the fact that Rice was an R recently turned and missed a couple of decades of voting. I liked Dinallo too, he worked with Spitzer and figured he would know where the bodies were buried but Scheiderman got all the union endorsements.

It was so long ago that I have no idea what my sn or password were, but I never did figure out how to post there, either, so I never did...

8. Voted Kristen and Kathleen too
I like how Kathleen Rice's commercials mentioned tougher prosecution for drunk driving. Not long after I started seeing commercials, my little cousin gets hits by a drunk driver. (He's fine no injuries).
Plus I heard of the job Kathleen Rice did as AG.
For me it was either a vote for Rice or Coffee...lol.

10. Thank you! I feel like the leper at the picnic... LOL.
I saw signs for Kathleen Rice, knew nothing about her, so I looked her up. On the issues, she seems to have everything we're looking for. And at least I did the research, which those who voted for the odious bigoted Carl Paladino obviously did not... x(

And I'm so sorry about your nephew! Yikes! I'm actually a member of AA (no DWIs x() so I know a lot of people who have gone through county drug court programs and I've seen the miracles happen. They work in a way that incarceration just cannot. That's one program that Kathleen Rice is on record for supporting, along with the environment, women's rights, gay rights and she's anti-death penalty. On the issues, if you're a progressive, what's not to like? :hi:

My brother-in-law is in AA too, and I've seen first hand how it changes people lives. he's a better man, because of it.

16. Thanks so much!
And Kudos to your BIL! I know that AA isn't popular here because people think it's religious. I haven't found that to be true at all. People get out of it what they want to... "Take what you want and leave the rest..." I have 16 1/2 months, One Day at a Time. :) :hi:

12. Maybe she's better known downstate in her home district(s).
I would never have heard of her if I hadn't received that e-mail from her. It seems like kind of a waste to challenge Kirsten Gillibrand, but I guess she felt that somebody needed to... I found this article when I looked her up... :hi:
