I and several others here have been predicting that the GOP would split
into several smaller, competing parties...the recent victories of the "teaparty" candidates in GOP Primaries seems to bear that out.
I think the next few months will be very interersting for us, and IF we can get together and vote and take advantage of republicans attacking themselves, we can actually win rather than just stave off the republican tidal wave...

I think the GOP campaigns will be more viscious and crazier than anything we have yet seen, witness the GOP candidate for NY governor, Carl Paladino, and his racist and pornographic email "jokes"...

We should be able to get some Democratic victories against these crazies...even the GOP will not support some of them...

1. They should be three parties
The racists
The gunnies
The pantie-sniffers

The "claim" that they are fiscal conservatives surely has been laid to rest when the stats are reviewed.. EVERY time a republican is in power, they ruin the financial set-up, and dems have to come along & fix it for them..

Their only claims to fame these days are their fanatical anger, their vindictive pettiness & their ruthlessness.

not good for our future.

5. There are still a lot of "moderate" republicans out there who are not
as crazy as the Teabaggers, and they do not get along with each other - I think we will get some votes from them in Delaware and the NY Governors races...'Baggers are using the GOP framework, but may not be getting financial support from the "real" GOP...

Or do you think its more likely they would continue voting for the GOP candidates whether they are baggers or not?

What do you think?

In the NE and West I could see voters not going party line in a sizable block. In the South and AZ, UT, not a much. Most likely is sitting it out if you are a Conservative non whack job R.

42. +1
Our partisan divide is causing many to demonize their political opponents. It makes me long for the good old days when we could disagree politically and still respect each other and get along.

This demonization--which seems to be especially prevalent on the right--is dangerous. Especially with the explosion in the growth of militia groups and the talk of "second amendmentment remedies" and revolution.

MSNBC was reporting this morning that exit polls in DE showed that large numbers of Castle supporters plan to vote Dem in November rather than vote for O'Donnell.

22. I've seen several other sources citing the same figure
Some refer to exit poll data that won't be released until later today or tomorrow.

Like you, I'm waiting to see some solid data. But so far, multiple sources are reporting about the same figure (apparently based on leaked exit poll data). Another example:

"Only 31% of voters think O’Donnell is qualified to hold office, and 44% of Castle’s voters will be backing the Democrat Coons."

35. The original source was Public Policy Polling
According to wiki:

She won the September 14, 2010, primary election by six percentage points over Castle.<49> The next morning, Public Policy Polling released a tweet indicating that their polling found that primary voters who voted for Mike Castle supported Coons, the Democratic opponent, over O'Donnell 44 percent to 28 percent in a general election.<50>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_O%27Donnell#cite_note-49

Here is the PPP tweet:

Castle primary voters supports Coons over O'Donnell 44-28 in general election

31. While they may not be able to bring themselves to casting a vote for a Democrat
They also may not be able to cast a vote for the insane. They may just choose to sit this one out..I think all the crap about a revved up GOP is just that ..Crap.. I think the main body of the GOP is actually quite demoralized and may not vote at all, while the Democrats may not be overly energized, they will get out and vote, just not in record numbers as they did in 2008..I believe Democrats are going to do quite well in November. Remember they have just now begun to start their campaigns, while Republicans/Tea Baggers have been at it for a year or so now and it is beginning to wear thin...

41. Duh - How Do You Think DE Elected Mike Castle (R) and Joe Biden (D) for all these years?

You seriously need to develop a deeper feeling for other people.

Mike Castle and Joe Biden ran at the same time for different offices several times.

Without a lot of crossover voting - which is pretty normal in Delaware - You can't send Mike Castle to the House and Joe Biden to the Senate, both by wide margins, when they are on the SAME ballot.

4. The tea partiers are taking over the Republicon party from within
It's our side that has been talking about splitting off a 'Labor' party.

While the establishment GOP has been stung by them, they won't encourage anyone to vote for our side to get back at the tea party movement. And clearly, the tea partiers don't need the big party money in order to get enthusiasm up.

7. Well, I don't exactly think of those two sources
as traditional Republicon big money. Clearly, Murdoch is trying to get control of the Repig party through use of his media machine, but he's doing so by going around the GOP establishment. Dick Armey is just trying to get back to being a player in the game, too.

So, where's our side's "Freedomworks" organization?

You need at least a little to get your message out there. But it's clear that a major endorsement by Caribou Barbie, telling her minions to talk up tea party candidates means way more than a few bucks.

25. Oh, I 'get' it
In fact, we don't disagree about Armey's/FW's role in the TPs.

On the DE Senate contest, the point is that FW chose NOT to fund O'Donnell's primary campaign (ostensibly because Armey didn't think she could win).

For the general, I expect that FW will now jump in to support her campaign.

Palin is not going to be very popular with the GOP anytime soon. With crazy Sarah supporting these whackadoos and costing them elections they should have won, this is not going to have a happy ending for the GOP.

because they are disgusted with today's politics while the insane right was energized to get out to the polls.

If the Dems don't get out and vote there is a chance that some of these maniacs will take seats in our government and possibly establish a long term presence in governance.

The tea blabbers are all going to vote en masse so we had better be prepared to compete.
