Quite simply put - Christine O'Donnell is the Alvin Greene for the Republican Party |
|
Both of them are an embarrassment that should have never won their primaries. And neither the DSCC (Greene) or NRSC (O'Donnell) want to admit these lunatics are actually running for office and neither will see a single dime of money from their parties. The only difference is this - the democrats from across the political spectrum knew better than to give any kind of pre-primary endorsement to Greene. But the Republican party is in such a state of disarray being hijacked by these lunatic fringe that it opened the door for a nutjob like O'Donnell to make through the primaries. Did you see the final vote tally for that race last night - a little less than 60k people voted in that election or less than 10% of the overall population of the state of Delaware. Even as a die-hard democrat, I am embarrassed my state would do that to a respectable person like Mike Castle (although mind you, as a Coons supporter I'm happy as heck that we're winning it in November).

1. There is one very big difference |
|
Delaware was a seat the Republicans expected to win with Castle The Dems never expected to beat DeMint no matter who was running against him

Where Greene's nomination is inconsequential, O'Donnell's is, in effect, decisive in handing Dems what should have been a GOP Senate seat.

12. They Also Have Handed Us A House Seat... |
|
With Castle now out, his seat is very much up for grabs. So this could be a two-fer...not only losing what appeareared to be a good chance to pick up a Senate seat but could also lose one in the House as well. So much for that 80 seat GOOP pick up one "pundit" I heard predict the other day.

3. I don't understand why the republicans would not want to pick up a senate seat (DE). |

4. Republicans DID want to pick up that seat - mainstream republicans |
|
Think about this - control of the senate hinged on the fact that Mike Castle would be the next senator from Delaware and he would have been if he made it past the primaries. 30,000 lunatics in Delaware and Sarah Palin just cost the Republicans that majority.

5. My point is that they would still want to win the seat by pouring a lot of money into DE along with |
|
the Kochs and the corporations. The media can help a lot by promoting her as a "great candidate" and an underdog to get the growing dumbed-down vote.

I've seen several sources that have referred to her as perennial candidate. Which means she's run for many offices in the past -- so she's not an unknown quantity

8. She runs for office every 2 years. She's even run as a write-in candidate |

You have to understand there aren't alot of strong republican candidates in the state of Delaware. She's not the only whackadoo that runs all the time, that guy Urquhart who just won the primaries for DE's house seat isn't that much saner along with Mike Protak. All 3 of them seem to be on an election ballot somewhere each election cycle and each year they seem to be shot down big time by the sane folks of Delaware. Last night both O'Donnell and Urquhart won, which pretty much sealed a win for democrats for our Senate and only House seat, oddly enough Protak lost again (I think he was running for Chris Coons' old job here in New Castle and the republicans are much more saner up here in the north).
But in prior elections, without anyone on the ballot for the DEGOP they didn't really care if the O'Donnells, Protaks and Urqaharts ran for office because they really had nothing else to offer. To be honest that just blew up in their face. They should have been looking for viable candidates out there to run those past elections. DEGOP have no one but themselves to blame for the mess they are in tonight.

But the previous poster seemed to suggest that with enough money they could make voters unaware of her weaknesses and I don't think that's possible because she's run so many times people know who she is

10. We all know here very well here in Delaware |
|
The problem with Teabaggers is they'll overlook the obviously blaring facts of serious character flaws provided that the person in question can spew rhetoric about Guns, God and Less Government (except when it comes to your love live and choices over your own body). How else do explain crazies like O'Donnell and Paladino getting elected to office?
