Outside of Utah we can win all these races because the teabaggers are just nuts.
Getting rid of Social Security and public schools? Now that will sell well.

The Koch Brothers, Freedom Works, Fox News, and Rush have created a monster that is out of control
and could very well kill any chance for a republican take over in the senate.

Now remember no masturbation

1. I took Joy
in the tea party wins because it gives Dems a real chance in those races.

However, when I stop and think about it.....some of those crazies are going to get into office. How any of them can garner enough votes to win....well just depresses me.

Have you stopped and listened to what they are saying.

Obviously the people gleefully voting for them haven't. It's just scary.

3. There are always crazies
Heck, there's always a Ron Paul or Bachmann running around. What will be interesting to see is whether this sort of "collective" bunch-o-nut jobs drags down the ticket over all. Primaries can be "easy" to win because of low voter turnout, especially in states where the primaries are "closed" and only registered republicans can vote. Those give little insight into how the "independent voters" will swing. But come the general election, it's a whole new ball game. You watch, everyone of these baggers will attempt to walk back their extreme rhetoric for the general election. One can only hope their opponents can prevent that.

2. EXACTLY! They will NOT be able to put the genie back in the bottle
without destroying that party. Once establishment republicons try to buck the tea baggers as nuts, tea baggers will go third party.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

4. Not if we don't get out and vote, we won't
Personally, I would much rather have the Democratic nominee in any race, run against a Republican with a brain who isn't crazy. Admittedly, those are in short supply these days, but that would be my wish.

5. And if there's an "event" that propels these nuts to plausible "victory"?
I guess we'll all be grateful that lame duck Democrats will be able to preempt them by making only modest cuts in Social Security.

Unfortunately, the media can sell just about anything to the American public. Talk to people about Social Security. Many (most?) of them are convinced it's already broke and bankrupting America. The people who own the media want to end both Social Security and the public schools. There is no guarantee they're not going to win.

7. We don't have a teabagger in a race in Tennessee, though.
Just sayin'.

13. And how would Mondale have done otherwise

I'm sick of the "but Paul and Angle could win" thing.

Yes, they could. But NV and KY would not be competitive without them as the candidates.

And, as a native Delawarean, I assure you we will deliver

11. Our joy may turn bitter in our glasses
if these whackadoodles win their races. My mom was certain Reagan would never win the Presidency, just as her own mom had been convinced he'd never become governor of their great state of California.

Shit can happen.

12. Why did you list Tennessee?
Edited on Wed Sep-15-10 02:07 PM by Fly by night
We are in danger of losing two or three House seats here.

AND (with the exception of two counties), we vote on nonverifiable DREs that awarded every position in Memphis to Republicans in early August (though the machines had to create 6,800+ more votes than voters to accomplish that.) If you believe that, then you also believe that Elvis still drives a catfish truck.

I don't see any good news here.
