Putting Impeachment On the Table
From my perch as a consultant to Progressive Democrats of America, I see mounting pressure to put impeachment on the table. Momentum is building due to continuous revelations of an imperial White House bent on undermining our system of justice (now, with sick-bed coercion).

Among citizens and elected officials, including Members of Congress, there is growing sentiment that this reckless Administration is a threat to our Constitutional system.

And that Bush and Cheney must be aggressively investigated - "with appropriate remedies and punishment, including impeachment," in the words of a tough resolution passed by the California Democratic Party 18 days ago. The California resolution took aim at Bush/Cheney for using false information to invade Iraq, torture, warrantless wiretaps and suspending Habeas Corpus.

Yesterday, the Detroit City Council called for impeachment of Bush and Cheney in a unanimous resolution sponsored by Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers, wife of the House Judiciary Chair John Conyers. Detroit is now the biggest city to pass such a resolution.

Progressive Democrats of America has been a centerpiece in the coalition demanding investigation/accountability/impeachment. PDA launched its current campaign in Massachusetts two months ago with public forums on impeachment featuring antiwar mom Cindy Sheehan and constitutional lawyer John Bonifaz. In their wake, a half-dozen town councils in Western Mass passed impeachment resolutions, with more expected.

47. Kick and Setting the Table. Or, "POTUS, the Felons, Way, Way Worse ...
When is it time to set the table. When the People are hungry. Juicy tidbits and rumblings this week are causing reasonable salivations, and like never before.

Let's consider Two Really, Really BIG BREAK-INS, and their comparison to the Watergate Break-In. This just to see is setting the table seems timely this weekend.

Break-in #1.) Republican operatives are given a contract (within the context of a bribe scheme to get the contract) to set up an IT network for Congress. They set it up so they subsequently intercept all the Democratic communications of the Committees investigating them, principally Leahy's Judiciary committee.

Break-in #2.) Bush illegally, and with advice in hand as to the illegality from his Attorney General and Acting Attorney General, goes ahead nonetheless with spying on a multitude of American citizens in the run-up to the 2004 election. Do I have to mention they are spying on "Democrats"? (At this point in the political timeline, I hope not.)

Now the comparison of the scenarios posited:

The RNC hires a bozo crew of rogue CIA bunglers who get caught trying to place bugs in a one political office, DNC HQ.

OR

The President of the USA and corrupt, bribe-paying operatives actually DO intercept ALL communications of all sorts of people investigating them and running against them just before the 2004 elections, including carrying out their scheme in the very Halls of Congress.

I call this menu, "POTUS, the Felons, Waaaa-aay Worse than Watergate, and Who Haven't They Bugged?"

For a reservation, e-mail the Speaker of the House. I'm betting even Honorable Speaker Pelosi is having a difficult time resisting the menu now.

It will be interesting to see who's heads end up on a platter next week.

6. Impeachment
Time for a civics lesson. Remember when Clinton was impeached? He finished his term.

If Bush is impeached,he will finish his term.

Unless about 17 repuplican senators vote with all the Democrats to remove Bush from office,he will finish his term.

Move on to something usefull.

12. Name those Republican Senators game
Step right up...and play a round of Name those Republican Senators who will stand up today and back the actions of THUGS entering a ICU Hospital room to force a very sick old man to sign that document? Can you name one....? Who will be on record to vote that these tactics are OKIE DOKIE...can you name one?

Times change and things are being exposed that even they know will not pass the smell test, and the do have to face the people back home when 08 elections come around. Like to hear them explain why they believed these actions didnt constitute a high crime...wouldn't you?

25. You're right. We need to move on from this.
Edited on Fri May-18-07 09:41 AM by mmonk
This is just the greatest assault on the constitution of the United States since the Civil War. Move along. Do not attempt to defend the constitution. I hear that it is a quaint thing anyway. It's just a piece of paper. I think a "unitary executive" dictatorship will work just dandy. I particularly like the politicization of the DOJ, CIA, FBI, and NSA. It will be a great waste of time delving into that. Torture is very American as well along with incarceration without trial. I kind of like the executive branch being able to out an intelligence operation of the US in order to cover up forgeries that lead to war, illicit nuclear arm sales, and international drug running from our government. It is really time to move on to something useful like "bipartisanship". So what if the military industrial complex is connected with our political parties, campaigns and such. And furthermore, we should keep operations such as the Office of Special Plans so that the next president can "fix" the intelligence around policy and lead us into another war based on lies. Yes, let's move on to politics as usual. All these threats to our freedom and children's freedom are just a waste of time to deal with.

8 years later his wife was running for President. That means if we impeach Bush we can expect Laura to be running for President in 2016!

Man, I am glad we have someone like you to remind us that everything happens exactly the same everytime you do it no matter how different the circumstances are.

11. "For the love of God when are you going to impeach them?" is the message I left...
...at the Washington offices of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Diane Feinstein, and my own Rep. Lois Capp. I couldn't get past the recording at Barbara Boxer's office.

It just finally boiled out of me. These Bushites are nothing but Mafiosi with a few generations of money behind them.

Their antics are enough to gag my pet goat.
