1. Was that possible/likely? |
Some states make it very easy to change registration back and forth--same day. Others do not...

2. I have been wondering the same thing. "Closed primaries" can mean different things. |
In Texas, with its open primaries, people commonly cross over to vote for the other side's least electable candidate.
The talk of "record turnout" has me wondering, since Republicans usually turn out in large numbers.

4. The GOOP = Parallel Universes and Very Closed Primaries |
The right wing...especially the teabaggers have long worked to close any and all primaries to keep out the "riff raff" that would give their candidates greater chances. It's a mirage as we saw in Delaware last night. Overall about 60,000 people voted in the primary...nowhere near the 400,000 registered voters in the general...and a small enough number where an "insurgent" candidate can do well. My bets are many of Castle's people were far less motivated to show at the polls...many assuming he'd win like he always has. It's a symptom of a party in collapse.
