The man who made soca music international
Arrow (Alfonsus Cassel) from Montserrat died this morning in Antigua from a brain tumor - he was only 55.

Feeling Hot Hot Hot became in international classic.

at the 92 Olympics. What really struck me about hot hot hot was eruption of the dormant Soufriere volcano in 1995 - after all he released Hot Hot Hot way back in 1972 but we all thought it was beyond prescient.

7. That sucks -his music always made you feel better
I hadn't heard much of him since a volcano almost wiped out the entire island he lived on.

IIRC he lost several businesses in the eruption including a recording studio.

When I worked in Trinidad it was considered almost unpatriotic to play his calypsos (or any other non Trinidadian musician except Sparrow). But a lot of people did anyway.
