8. You have power
Talk to your friends. Convince your neighbors. Have a chat with the people you meet. Call up your local Democratic Party office and volunteer to GET OUT THE VOTE.

There's a number of DUers snarking on the DNC's new logo but what they fail to recognize is that the website on which it resides has been turned into an online GOTV engine, featuring numerous ways you can help the party without spending a dime and from the comfort of your home:

5. the message needs to go the other way to the White House and Congress too.
you can't play bipartisan patty cake for years then tell us the Republicans are the big bad wolf all of the sudden.

6. It seems (I hope I hope I hope) that they're beginning to realize this. I think
playing bipartisan patty cake was the way of BOTH sides in the past. Politics, dontcha know. But this is a new world and I think it's sinking in.

I've said many times I wish Obama would send Biden down to the floor of the Senate to do an LBJ and "talk" to his colleagues.

22. Oh yeah, -- I'm talking about the REAL old days, when Biden and Kennedy were
fresh young faced Senators.

25. I only know that I've read stories about how both sides used to respect one
another, fight like cats and dogs on the floor, but it was about the issues - not personal attacks. There was more of a willingness to work with each other (granted, it was usually you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours) but none of this NO! to every single thing the other side would propose. I guess I'm thinking of just stories about Kennedy, Biden - those of their era.

Am I incorrect? Am I saying stuff that's way off base?

26. In one sense, what the GOP is doing is good: they are establishing a reliable brand
in those more cooperative days, if you voted for a Democrat or Republican, you weren't sure what you were going to get in terms of ideology.

My home state had two Republican Senators for years, both of whom would undoubtedly be ideologically to the left of most of today's Democrats in the Senate.

I would prefer to vote for a set of ideas, and if the person fails to defend and advance those ideas, they should be removed for fraud and/or incompetence.

27. Maybe that's what I'm trying to express -- that I get the sense that it used to
be that those on both sides who shared ideas, would support those ideas and come together, rather than just automatically reject what the other side proffered. Don't you think it used to be more like that?

29. it used to be more like that which was good for the functioning of government but bad for voters
why should I bother to vote if the guy I vote for gets elected and then agrees with the opposing party?

That is a more dishonest version of a one party state.

28. I saw parts of it on the rerun around midnight...whenever I think the Democratic Party
is hoplessly confused and well meaning but brain damaged, Biden provided a refreshing contrast to most of the rest. I want him to run for President in 2016. I want him to speak more in piblic about the GOP and the job the Democrats have been attempting despite having all the drag of the media, the right and the stupid in our country. He makes me feel we are actually doing something worthwhile, on purpose and with some plan and intelligence, and he is one of the very few Democrats who makes me feel that way.
