|
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 02:13 AM by opihimoimoi
.....They are subject to being made FUN OF by their contacts...they don't like it...
Some Baggers are slowly extricating themselves as best as they can w/o losing face.....no such luck..
Many Baggers forced to eat Crow in order to stave off the constant teasing from Lib Friends....
The Current is changing....

4. Havent been following the news lately have you? |
|
The meme that the tea baggers are a "joke" or are just "astro-turf" has quietly faded, even here. If too many progressives are still not taking them seriously and dont come out and vote, you will be in for a rude awakening come November.

moved onto seriously able to damage the country and sweep the repubs back to the "whigs" is more like it. We take these simpletons as seriously as we can without breaking into gales of laughter. They are to be pitied. When repubs are embarrassed by the baggers you know there is a problem.

the teasing will only make them even more eager to get out and vote, and convince the like-minded to do the same.

12. Oddly, more people have no opinion of the teabaggers... |
|
...than those who have good or bad opinions. I don't remember the exact numbers, but in one recent poll 20-something% thought badly of the Tea Party movement, some slightly smaller 20-something% thought well of the movement (probably the teabaggers themselves), and 40-something% had no opinion one way or the other.
What you have to remember in American politics is that a huge number of people are drifting through the electoral process almost totally unaware of what's going on around them. When these people bother to vote they do so based as much on misinformation and distortions as they do on barely-registering actual facts.
I may know the teabaggers are bat shit crazy, you may know they're bat shit crazy, and we might think that craziness is so over the top that we can't imagine how other people might overlook it... but somehow, many do overlook it anyway.
The teabaggers may be a joke, but not everyone gets the joke. If we aren't careful, we might not be laughing at the results of that joke in November. We can't count on the utter insanity of the Tea Party being self apparent -- it will take a lot of effort with many people to get them to wake up and notice what's really going on. Until that happens, the fierce enthusiasm of the teabaggers, the lack of enthusiasm in the Democratic base, and the vaguely aware masses who are unhappy with economy combine to create conditions we need to be very concerned about, that can't be laughed off as if teabaggers being ridiculous idiots is, in and of itself, enough to help Democrats win.

19. never underestimate the power of masses of dumb people |
|
or some such saying I once heard.
Jeez, in 2000 we thought we had it wrapped up because "WHO WOULD VOTE FOR THAT ASSHOLE?" Well, as many didn't we found out our votes didn't matter but he spent 8 fuckng years destroying our country and we initially laughed at him.
Don't underestimate the stupid. OK?
