Conservative Radio Host: "Kill Nancy Pelosi"
"This act by the Speaker of The House is tyranny, plain and simple. There is recourse against tyranny: The Second Amendment. That's why the Founding Fathers put the Second Amendment in our Constitution! It is quickly becoming clear to me that a "Second Amendment Solution" may be necessary to address the conduct of the federal government very soon."
- Hal Turner

1. I shared a frequency with Hal for years.
He's a little unhinged, but his followers are absolutely bleepin' nuts. The Capitol Police should be put on alert about this.

Hal has been losing it lately.
It's like he wants to go to jail. Get something started. Most of his followers never had it so they can't lose it.

That seems to be the only way to get these turds off the air - hit their sponsors.

12. Hit The Local Sponsors
Trying to get a reponse from a large corporate isn't as effective as noting the local advertisers of a show and then have some fun.

Just recently I dealt with a restaurant where I was going to host a brunch for 25 or so people...until I found out they were regular advertisers on the local Salem hate radio station. I happened to stumble on their ad while trolling for venom...and there they were. I called up the manager...who was all set for me to come in and sign the contract at which time I asked if that was their restaurant I had heard advertised on WIND. He smiled and said "yes". I asked again...so your restaurant is the one that pays to bring us Michael Savage? Again, I could hear the "pride" in his voice. I then asked if he advertises on the local Air America station? He said "hell no". I said, "well then I guess you just lost close to $1,000 in guaranteed business that now will go to the new place down the street...maybe one of the "Savage Nation" can make up the shortfall. He then said "c'mon, you're not gonna let a radio show make you change this." I laughed and said that when I hear his commercials on WCPT, then he'll be hearing from me again. And as long as he continues to throw money at WIND and hate radio, we'll make sure we tell our many friends to not only avoid booking functions at this restaurant, but to avoid it altogether. I then said "shame on you for supporting hate and that you should now hang up the phone and wash that blood off his hands". There was silence after that.

When I worked "in the biz", nothing got a station's attention faster than the complaint from a local advertiser. Thus, if you're gonna hit the sponsors, go for the ones where you can meet or call the manager...then let them know how they blew a sale thanks to ther support of hate radio.

Cheers...

17. WIND is a good name for that station
they're all full of hot air. Hell, when I drive through Chicago their billboards tout Michael Freaking Medved, ferhevvinssake! I often tune in WCPT when I'm down that way, heck I can pick it up in Madison, and south of Madison when I get out of 92.1 The Mic's signal area. Great station!

But WIND's billboards are lame... "Liberals Hate It!" Yeah, because it's full of shit!

21. And I Listen To Wisconsin Public Radio...
WIND was a great station when Westinghouse owned it eons ago...now it's a waste of electrons. Sadly WCPT isn't much better...no local programming in the third largest market in the country...but at least they do carry AAR shows and it's got a very good signal northwest of Chicago all the way Mad City and beyond, but you lose it when you get along the lake.

Ironically, I listen to a lot of Wisconsin Public radio...they recently put a repeater station nearby. For years I'd strain to hear it out of Milwaukee. I've heard "The Mic" when I go to Lake Geneva and glad the listeners fought to keep it going.

For a while WCPT had a billboard that mocked the WIND one...said "Liberals Love It". Now the board says "Mr. Bush, bring the troops home NOW".

Cheers from the land of the copperheads.

27. Good job!!
And, yes, I agree. Targeting the local advertisers works much better; however, I don't live in the area the show in the OP mentioned, so that wouldn't do me much good, I don't suppose. My grandfather, however, DOES live in that area and is a big Dem.

He can't see very well to write, but I can write something to them on his behalf.

30. Sometimes You Just Have To Get In Their Faces
Some businesses don't know that they're advertising on hate stations...either it's an agency that did the buying and bought a dozen stations or they bought the religious station and the ad got "bonused" to the hate station, thus I advise being polite and give the person the benefit of the doubt at first...until they show cards...then let 'em have it...politely, but thoroughly.

Email is starting to become the junk mail of the 21st century. I enjoy many of the letters I read here and applaud those that get a response, but I'm "old school"...a letter on real paper with a specific name or a phone call direct to the person...or a visit to the showroom. It's easy to discount some yokel who got stuff from a message board, it's another when someone either takes the time to put pen to paper or lives in the vacinity and shows a "response". My bets, with an 0.7 rating, WIND doesn't get much response to their ads, thus a good chance a negative response from a local is gonna get some attention. No business wants that kind of PR.

I'm sure there are businesses in your area that are of a similar ilk. Salem has radio stations across the country that spread the worst bile on the dial. They usually fund their hate stations with "dollar a hollar" preachers and paid programs...a nice con game that have been exploited by the GOOP for years. My hopes are the bill collectors and debts on these stations are mounting. It'd be nice to help this process along a little bit.

Cheers...

49. Welcome To DU
I put in over 25 years...and had some great times. I got into Internet Radio 10 years ago and have never looked back. I've worked with Shoutcast since they set up shop and now am working with AACPlus...the system that enables streaming into wireless devices. You made the right move. Working with Internet Radio is like re-inventing the medium.

Tucson wasn't on fire when I was there in April...it rained the three days I was there...but had a great time in a great Blue town.

Cheers from Chicago...

Long story but to make it short this asshat rent-a-cop for a little subdivision-sized "city" hit my car and left the scene of the accident. Turns out the guy that did the body work on my car (my Dad had used the shop before) was the mayor of this "city" and he fired the guy!

just not in the way this nutjob thinks.

I'm thinking... when a certain someone is impeached and refuses to leave the White House, perhaps.

When a certain person refuses to leave office on January 20th, 2009, declaring a national emergency and martial law.

You know, the really cheerful stuff people think about when their government is teetering on the edge of irreversable insanity.
