War hero to kids: Grow up - Blames Dems on Iraqis continued fighting

May 18, 2007
BY FRAN SPIELMAN City Hall Reporter fspielman@suntimes.com

As Medal of Honor winner Al Lynch sees it, the me-first generation is "one generation away" from losing the freedoms it takes for granted.

"If one generation fails to step up, radical Islam, Nazi -- whatever the next ism is will be here. The second we cannot field troops -- the second we have people who are so dedicated to themselves that they can't see the big picture, we're gone," he said.

Now Lynch will be able to admonish young people directly -- in a series of school visits tied to the 2009 Medal of Honor Convention in Chicago. snip

But Lynch said talk in Congress of establishing a timetable for withdrawal of troops in Iraq is undermining the military and future soldiers.

"Politicians who are doing this are directly responsible for the enemy's continuing to fight us," Lynch said.

1. Right. If that is why the "enemy" is fighting us now, why have they been
fighting us for the past 4 years? It is sad when a Medal of Honor winner is a moron. It's just so sad...

3. Where do these assholes keep coming from?
Why can't they get the simple concept that they are fighting us there BECAUSE WE TOOK OVER THEIR COUNTRY?!? wouldn't this bonehead be the first to fight someone who took over the US? Why should anyone else be different?

4. Someone needs to ask this dipshit what he thinks we would do if
someone invaded OUR country.

6. This is exactly why the Dems in Congress are not
pushing hard to end the war. Because they know the Republicans will shamelessly use the Dems are cowads meme for the next 50 years and the American populace will continue to be indoctrinated to "WE are the greatest, we are the chosen nation, anyone who says we caused people to hate us are cowards and evil. And must be kept out of power."

Hannity et al continue to run this playbook, every single night.

Sadly, not many people learn to think critically and examine these statements.

7. Oh, So He Doesn't Believe In PERSONAL Responsibility?
I thought that was a Conservative axiom - personal responsibility, not blaming others for your actions or misfortunes. Yet, he says the people who want accountability to this war are "directly responsible" for the insurgency. Well, excuse me, but if you believe in PERSONAL responsibility, no one but the insurgents themselves are responsible for continuing to fight.
