Fla. sea burial botched as man's body resurfaces

September 15, 2010 06:09

Authorities suspected foul play when the body of a North Carolina man surfaced near a South Florida beach.

------------------------------

Sheriff's deputies solved the mystery after finding Lasky's obituary. Authorities said his family placed his body on dry ice, loaded him in a van and drove from Hickory, N.C., to Florida to honor his dying wish. Relatives boarded a boat and bid Lasky what they thought was their final goodbye until his body resurfaced.

Sea burials are legal but certain rules must be followed. The body has to sink to the bottom rapidly and permanently.

It usually draws only BRAINdead religiodelusionals - guess drowning jesus has found a new market in dead-dead religiodelusionals.

Where in Florida is this "moronic drowning jesus statue" of which you speak?

I have a clue, but I'd like to hear it from you in case I'm wrong.

in a park off Key Largo. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the park at the moment but I believe it's a state park. That might be the drowning Jesus statue Lance Boyle is referring to.

10. Yeah, really...these guys were DIYers with their deceased relative
No coffin, no nothin'.

My dad's final wish was to become one with Biscayne Bay and we did it the right way - by sprinkling his ashes, not dropping his body over thise side! Sheesh!!

Oh, and subby - a link from a California newspaper about a Florida story is not as helpful as a Florida newspaper link like this one:
