Rush Limbaugh fell for a hoax about a federal judge based on an erroneous Wikipedia entry, according to the New York Times.

The paper reports that, on his Tuesday show, Limbaugh spent some time discussing Roger Vinson, a District Court judge for the Northern District of Florida. Vinson had recently announced that he was likely to allow a full hearing for a challenge to the federal health care bill. Limbaugh told his listeners that the judge was a longtime hunter and amateur taxidermist, and that he had once killed three brown bears and mounted their heads above the entrance to his courtroom--in order, Limbaugh said, to "instill the fear of God into the accused."

"This would not be good news" for supporters of the health care law, he added.

Unfortunately, none of that information is true.

You are absolutely right. If I wanted to say Rush Limbaugh is a hardcore junkie pedophile then I should have used the proper format to link to his site. Because otherwise, just writing Rush Limbaugh is a hardcore junkie pedophile in plain text, would show up in a search for that specific term, but it wouldn't drive his site up in connection with the terms Rush Limbaugh - hardcore - junkie pedophile.

Although he should have had staff check out the stories. But the method is wrong, because most people reading this thread would not have the money to check out a story like that.

Note also that the story not being true may not be heard by his listeners.


If he was tricked, the fault for him spreading false information is on the person that knowingly posts bad information.



By laughing at Rush, or agreeing with that method, then can you complain if the media lied to you, or someone set up fake web pages to trick you?
