The core difference between Progressivism and Conservatism |
|
And of course, everything after this varies in some way or another....
But Progressives understand that on Earth, there is a fixed amount of value in the resources available. Despite the ag rev or green rev - there is that fixed, core amount of value in all resources.
Conservatism thinks there is a never ending line of value. Like we are an animal sucking the sugar ball, thinking it will be there forever.

2. I think it would almost impossible to sum up the core differences so briefly -- |

but I don't think your attempt is the most fortunate: isn't a big part of the idea of being progressive the idea that progress can be made? That life can be improved? That the world can be made a better, more reasonable, and fairer place for all?
The way you put it, one can almost think that conservatism is what stands for that hopefulness. While again, as you put it, it sounds like progressives believe that life is a zero-sum game.
I know that wasn't what you were trying to say, and were focussing entirely on environmental issues, but in the larger sense, it's a little unfortunate.
