Jimmy Carter: Ted Kennedy killed health reform
"Ted Kennedy, the iconic senator from Massachusetts who passed away last year, was responsible for the failure of then-President Jimmy Carter's health reform plan in the 1970s, the result of a personal rivalry between the two politicians, Carter says."

This is really sad. To blame Kennedy for his own short comings. Jimmy, it wasn't Ted Kennedy who deregulated the airline industry, it was you. It wasn't Ted Kennedy who failed to hear the warnings, and let the shah in for medical treatment without getting the people out of the embassy in Iran.

Your successes or short-comings were due to you, not Ted Kennedy

1. This isn't new. Carter wrote the same thing in 1982, "Keeping Faith", pp 86-87

Wiki, Ted Kennedy:

Carter wrote in 1982 that Kennedy’s disagreements with Carter's proposed approach "ironically" thwarted Carter’s efforts to provide a comprehensive health-care system for the country.(Ftn. 85)

Picking at a real old scab here.

2. And Teddy slammed Carter in his autobiography recently released...
...apparently Teddy could hold a grudge as well...

3. Nixon proposed a national health care bill before Carter.
Who is to blame for shutting that one down?

It's not like Carter (or Nixon, for that matter) invented the idea of health care reform...

Sorry, Jimmy, I love you, but you should have kept your mouth shut on this one.
