Discharge Petition in House to Repeal Health Care Bill. |
|
FYI. A Discharge Petition is a proceedure by which the Congress can override the Speaker of the House. Under normal circumstance no bill can come to the floor without the Speaker's permission. The Rules do provide a process when members simply cannot agree with the speaker. This process is called a Discharge Petition. It works this way. A member or members draw up a counter bill and must get 218 Written Signatures on the Bill. If their bill gets the 218 signatures, then then they can bring their bill to floor for a vote in spite of the Speakers objection.
Representative S. King IA has a Discharge Petition to Repeal the Obama Health Care Plan, in progress at this time. He just reported on Fox News that he already has 173 signatures (of the 218 needed). THE BIG NEWS. He just obtained the signature of a Democrat on his Discharge Petition. Congressman from Mississippi.(Democrat).
This is why the Media think we cannot govern. Tell me when would a Republican have pulled such a stunt to undermine GWB. King says he believes he has more Democrats signing on.

The guy's a family friend, but damn he pisses me off sometimes.
Incidentally, at one point in the 90's he was the only member of the Mississippi House delegation who wasn't a mortician.

2. If Democrats who voted for the bill start signing, I'll get concerned |
|
But otherwise, I will ignore this.

3. So every Republican signed it. Republicans are dreaming of repealing health care reform. |
