I have come to the realization that I am a very prejudice person...
I can't help it. I have a big issue with willfully ignorant and stupid people.

There I said it.

Whew.

palin, o'donall, the whole fox news organization, various right wing think tanks that try to bar and prevent womens rights, the organizations that preach hate and intolerance against anyone that is not white, etc. These are just a few that I can't stand. I find my skin crawls at the thought of these people.

And as shameful as it is to say this, I'm okay with my prejudices. I know, I know, I should be more tolerant, more understanding, blah blah blah, but I never claimed to be Gandhi, MLK or of the like, I'm just me. I'm the average so-far-to-left-leaning-liberal-that-I-fall-over Democrat.

My prejudicial stands include helping the homeless, providing for those who can't, equality among the races and genders and rights for women, to name a few.

I know, I'm an outcast, but this is who I am.

2. I tolerate them as long as we can keep them out of power...
I mean, I am not prejudiced against the blind just because I oppose them serving as airline pilots and cab drivers.

Willful ignorant and stupid people have a type of blindness that should disqualify them from elected office where, in theory, they are supposed to serve the people.

4. Not suffering fools gladly isn't bigotry. Bias for the poor is a virtue.
You're in good company if these be sins.

7. That's what keeps me such a bad Buddhist

I find it horribly difficult to summon compassion for shrieking dunderheads.

Oh, I know on an intellectual level that they're being lied to and that they're just too stupid and lazy to realize it. However, their willingness to hate anyone they've been given permission to hate is just something I find totally unacceptable.

Were they kept on the lunatic fringe and out of power, I might be able to summon more compassion for them. However, they're threatening all of us with votes and violence through their willingness to be led by all the wrong people and their laziness in refusing to check out what's true and what isn't.

11. Well, in the long run their karma is really, really bad.
I'm not being facetious, I found it one way of generating some compassion, but it does require seeing past the only-one-life thing - seeing human life as set in a context that's greater than the single lifetime.

8. I've been told many times by wingers that I am intolerant because
I can't tolerate their bigoted compassionless views.

12. I'm intolerant of intolerance.
However, if the other person wants to drop their intolerance, I'm not attached to mine, I can drop it without any further thought.
