That's a lifetime of work. Lots make less, most these days have 2 incomes. It buys a house, puts the kids through school, pays the everyday bills, maybe a nice yearly holiday. Hopefully we've socked a bit away for our golden years.

Some people make ten times that in a year. Or 20. Fine. But I don't understand people wanting to double that, triple that, year after year. You cannot possibly spend that in a lifetime.

This doesn't even bring up the billionaires. What good is all that money after you have, say, fifty million already?

3. I remember a hockey player in an interview.
He was making 2 million and had just signed for 4 million per year. He said something like "Geez, how many houses and cars does a person need?" A few years later that same guy signed for 8 million per year.

5. For a hockey player the question is how much revenue he generates.
And are you entitled to a salary based on what you generate.

In an era of low cost, the profit made on that amount of labor is diminished and so is the value of that person's labor.

2. Because there are people who feel fulfilled by making half a million
or more a year. They feel driven to be billionaires. I think they should have the individual right to do that, they just should not have more influence on elected leaders because they make that choice for their lives and have the luck of being in the right place at the right time or simply born from the right vagina.

6. Beyond a certain level, it isn't money anymore
It becomes power and unlike "mere" money, power increases as you use it.
