Nancy Pelosi keeps losing Democrats on tax cuts
Source: Politico

If the House works its will, the top income tax brackets will enjoy at least one more year of the Bush tax cuts — a development that would be a sharp rebuke of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and President Barack Obama.

At least 38 House Democrats have now come out publicly in favor of at least a short-term extension of current income tax rates for couples earning more than $250,000 and individuals over the $200,000 threshhold — bucking calls from Obama and Pelosi to let taxes increase on wealthier Americans. Other Democrats have indicated privately that they prefer an extension instead of allowing rates to expire for top earners, and Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, who heads Democratic campaign efforts, has argued behind closed doors for taking a political issue off the table by giving a short reprieve to wealthy folks before the midterm elections.

Republicans are unified in their support for extending current tax rates for all earners, meaning that a majority of the House prefers not to let income tax rates rise for any category of workers before the end of next year.

The real legislative action on tax rates remains in the Senate, where Finance Chairman Max Baucus is working on a plan that would roll back the tax breaks for top-income Americans, so the House positioning is more political than legislative at this point.

6. All I have anymore is change, pennies, nickles, dimes,.....
Edited on Fri Sep-17-10 10:21 AM by Lost4words
I GOT change, I need a fucking Job and I am not looking for a pony but some kind of a future would be OK.

But that new logo is so fine, I wonder how much letterhead and how many envelopes will need to be changed.

"Circle D" because somebody already had "Square D",

Tim Kaine is so proud of his contribution,

I wonder why Howard Dean didnt come up with this idea?

here is my suggestion for a slogan to go with Circle D,

Capitol D, Because its a little better than Capitol F!

:banghead: misspelling is intentional!

4. Then they can go ahead and vote against tax cuts for middle America
because the rich didn't get their cabbage.

And then they can go home to their districts and explain why they did it. Fuck the Blue Dog caucus to hell.

8. Agreed. I'll give up my $60 per year or whatever it is to help the budget ...
AND save social security (as if it really needs anything more than removing the cap), AND save other social programs.

Let those few House Dems fight for their rich buddies, then explain their actions to their voters. I believe this "news" source is just trying to stir up trouble for our side.

14. Agreed!

Just do what they did with the Assault Weapons ban....let 'em go on their own. Just don't let it go to the floor.(they're good at that!) And then bring in new and improved tax cuts for the middle class.

Besides...if you read the whole article, you realize the headline is bunk, and it's all very speculative and is just more of what I call "News of the future". Your horoscope is just as accurate as this article.

19. Let them all expire then have a vote for the middle class later?
Will this work?

I agree with "just let them all expire then" because GOP is holding the middle class a hostage. Let them look bad!
