12. There were funnel clouds around Victoria, Texas yesterday
Edited on Fri Sep-17-10 08:44 PM by Gman
3 altogether, I believe. Victoria is about 30 - 40 miles from the water. Their rain was part of this system too. But it never made it this far inland. Still, we've had tornadoes here in San Antonio too from tropical systems over the years. We had a tornado pass very close to me as part of Hurricane Dolly that went into South Texas in 08. It tore up some roofs and uprooted some big trees about a mile from me. It never hurts to keep an eye out especially when the cloud coming is real dark and the wind is really picking up. The thing is they happen so quickly, by the time the weather service even sees what is going on it can already be through and back up in the clouds. They are never real strong, usually not more than F1. But they can still tear some things up and send you into a fight with your insurance company.

7. Getting Ugly Out There
I'm here in Canyon Lake (20 miles from San Antonio) and it turned ugly very fast this afternoon. A repeat from week before last when I was in Corpus Christi and ran back here to avoid the rains only to have it hit here much worse than in Corpus.

15. How clear is Canyon Lake?
Is it muddy from all the rain? I live around South Austin and was thinking of going to Canyon Lake or San Marcos on Monday if the weather cooperates.
