Is there a Hagel/Bloomberg ticket in the works
Edited on Fri May-18-07 10:33 AM by mmonk
and how will this affect both parties if so? Will this change any of the more hawkish dems that have gone along with the empire project in Congress?

1. I can't imagine
that Bloomberg would settle for the #2 spot. He's the one paying for the gig.

I do think it will have a huge effect on the Independent vote and that will probably hurt the Democrats.

2. I agree that Bloomberg would probably want the #1 spot, but I think that ticket
would hurt Republicans more than Democrats. Those two are anti-war conservatives.

7. It would be an odd ticket
Hagel is socially very conservative. Bloomberg is socially pretty liberal. The two of them running together for any reason other than the war doesn't make much sense. Unless they just want to make trouble. Like Nader.

9. They are very much alike, actually--both self-made men, CEO's, fiscal
conservatives. Hagel has "heartland" values, Bloomberg is a product of NYC, it's true--but if they can breach their diff's on gun control and abortion (where I see the most difference between them), they could make it work, if they wanted to. I think this has been in the works for a while, actually--they've apparently known each other for a long time, at least as acquaintances.

10. You know...Jewish? Bagel--Jewish bread invention? Lox and cream cheese?
I thought it was cute...without being anti-Semitic.

12. Why would Bloomberg need someone with an ad company, when
he owns his own media empire?
