Despite the smug assertions of the "two wheels good, four wheels bad" crowd, it is simply not possible for everyone to use bicycles as their sole form of transportation.

on my way to school.
Not everyone lives in an area where cycling is useful.
Edit to add: You live where I do. How do you get to Greensboro?

22. There's almost never anything I need in Greensboro |
|
There is a reasonably bike-friendly route though that I've done when I rode in the Tour To Tanglewood.
There are also plans to extend the Salem Lake Greenway to Greensboro but I don't expect to see that done in my life-time. :)

26. Well you win the prize. |

I go to school full time at UNCG. My partner works for the FAA in Charlotte. We buy groceries for her disabled elderly mother who lives next door to us (taking her back and forth to the doctor on a bike, won't do either). Our lives aren't compatible with not owning a car. Living in Winston-Salem, I have a hard time believing that you don't use a car for any reason AT ALL :-)

12. Last evening my Shell station was still showing $2.959 per gal reg |
|
...in Orlando FL and I was very surprised because when I filled up ten days ago it was $2.979 per gal reg. So that neighborhood station at least has lower prices by two cents. I have not driven much over the past ten days because I was out of the country for five of those days.
I'll probably need to gas up in about a week. I am on a self-imposed driving restriction allowance of 35 gallons per month which comes to two fill-ups per month and have been pretty close that that limited usage for the past six months. Before that I easily used three sometimes four fill-ups. I decided to see how I could conserve, traced how I was driving on impulse and where I made unnecessary trips to the grocery store, pay bills, appointments, etc., and put down a working plan of personal auto driving use on paper which I felt I could live with. I have realized that I can comfortably make it on the imposed fuel limitation.

19. Oakland, Ca - $3.64 at the Shell station yesterday but the Arco |
|
50 yards away from it was $3.49 (which is low for around here - averaging $3.57). The Arco was 'swarmed' with a line on the street - not one customer at the Shell station.

24. Don't you just love the smell of $40 billion in yearly profits? |
|
And that's just for Exxon/Mobil
How's everyone's ass doing this year? Feel the pain yet? It's the feeling of getting reamed over and over by the energy giants, courtesy of the US government.
Those Freeper idiots with the giant SUVs and little pecker monster trucks must be lovin' the great GOP!!!
Yeah, they care about you, fucking idiot Freepers.
