Going at O'Donnell the wrong way
Edited on Sun Sep-19-10 12:36 AM by Bgno64
In a purely platonic sense. I hear she's not into that.

Sure, she's like a f*cking liberal's nightmare - Sarah Palinesque-looking hardcore Christianist bullsh*tter. The whole line about her dabbling in witchcraft is the biggest f&cking lie I've ever heard in my lifetime. She dabbled in witchcraft like I'm Elvis f*cking Presley.

But.

In attacking O'Donnell on a cultural basis - liberals are basically strengthening her support. People will support her, see, specifically BECAUSE she's an idiot. Because they're idiots too! And they're being oppressed by the know-it-all elites! And when those know-it-all elites attack O'Donnell - like with video of her saying she's "dabbled in witchcraft" - it just stiffens the resolve of those who want to back her for cultural, class-based reasons.

She needs to be (or ALSO needs to be) attacked on a local level - as in, what are you going to do for Delaware? And why are all these national Tea Party types contributing money and trying to influence an election that rightly belongs to Delawarians?

1. We shouldn't waste any time attacking her about her sex life or the witch thing.
Let the late-night talk show hosts enjoy that. Her financial irresponsibility is a different matter and a legitimate political concern.

2. So we don't talk about the corporations stealing from everyone.
And the poisoning of the Gulf of Mexico.

And corruption, and vote rigging, and the beer and travel money, and many good experiences that are due to me.

3. It's easier to just dismiss her and make fun of her
but, you are so right. Attack her credentials, experience and make her explain her ideas, plans, and solutions to the real problems everyday people of Delaware face. That's the way to do it. cheers to you Bgno64 :toast:

4. Because bottom line,
this is a local race - and it's lovely what all of us outside of Delaware think, but we don't get a vote.

And no, it's not about not talking about the big issues - because down the line, the local issues will BE the big issues

5. She may be a local issue, but she's a national embarrassment to the GOP
It's not just about her; it's about the tea bagger wing of the Republican Party.

Her nomination has implications outside of Delaware.

6. Bullshit. The myth of the all-powerful "values voter" is just that- a myth.
The idea that there are legions of people who take seriously the idea that the Earth is 6,000 years old, for instance- so we must refrain from mentioning that Palin, O'Donnell, etc. believe Jesus rode around on a dinosaur... Sorry, not buying that line.

There are a few far right nutters who are sympathetic to her abstinence-preachy-please Jesus stop-the-fornication gibberish, but most voters are sensible and appalled. To believe otherwise is to believe, again, that Sarah Palin wasn't an embarrassment to the GOP in 2008, that somehow she DIDN'T harm McGrumpy's campaign.

She did, she was, and we absolutely should remind the voters how crazy, stupid, and out of touch these maniacs are. Every chance we get.

7. I'd also attack her on all the outside support she's getting.
Keep hammering that interests outside Delaware are selecting their next Senator, not the residents.
