Right-wing reaction: Factbox: Immigration backlash spreads in Europe (Sweden the latest)
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE68I2EZ20100919

"An anti-immigrant party won seats in the Swedish parliament for the first time in an election on Sunday, in the latest sign of a backlash in Europe against immigration.

Below are some of the countries where anti-immigrant sentiment appears to be on the rise or where governments have moved to impose new restrictions on immigration or ethnic groups like the Roma."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The articles goes on to summarize the relative success that some right- and far-right parties have had in Europe playing on fears of immigration and ethnic groups like the Roma. Austria, the UK, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland are listed as countries where the right has had recent success.

The anti-immigration backlash is focused on those coming from outside the EU, not on Europeans living and working in each others' countries, and the left in all those countries seems to be fighting to keep the far-right marginalized.
