A good example of what we are up against.
I had to give a friend a ride to the next county last week. I owed him a favor and he agreed to pay for gas, so I didn't mind an hour in the car.

I had MSNBC on the Sirius radio as we were driving, and we were listening to the doom and gloom from Tweety and his bunch. My friend expressed disbelief that Democrats were fairing so poorly in the pre-election polls and I concurred.

"And those tea party people are full of crap, too. I don't know how anyone believes them," he said.

"I know. It sickens me."

"Yeah, really. I mean, Obama only raised taxes by, what, 6%?"

I nearly swerved off the road, but regained my composure quickly enough. I explained that Obama hasn't done anything to the tax code yet, and that all of the tax rates are exactly where they were in 2003. "In fact," I pointed out, "because of changes to the withholding tables, most people are actually taking home more money in their paychecks now. So it's not a tax cut, but the effect is about the same."

When even someone whobacks the Democrats has bought into the brainwashing that "Obama raised taxes" we have a real problem on our hands.

1. Where do these figures people use come from?
Who is telling your friend that "Obama" raised his taxes 6%?

Obama can't do it alone in the first place, it takes Congress to raise taxes.

3. That's what I want to know.
The right-wing squawk box working overtime, and too many people are buying into the lies.

2. Deep is the Republipoo propaganda doo doo
The Republicons have made a science out of lying, and installed a vast corporate media machine to crap it out.

Deep is the Republicon damage inflicted upon honor, integrity, honesty.

4. Democrats aren't getting the facts out as they should
It is just that simple. The GOP is screaming the loudest with flat out lies, mis-truths, fabrications. I spend time with coworkers and quite often have to gently correct inaccurate information that they believe is true by simply giving them the facts. The funny thing is, some of them don't discuss their viewpoints with me as much anymore because I think that they know that they are wrong but don't want to let go of that perspective. It's a very strange dynamic.

If all we hear is one perspective, over and over, there will be people who will take it as fact. I recently changed to at&t U-Verse and am now able to watch MSNBC favorites - Rachel, Ed Show, Keith and I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying their informed viewpoints and passion for what I believe is the truth.

I'll never go back to Comcast - people who have a basic package have no choice for cable news besides Fox. There is something wrong with that.
