Invasion of the mind snatchers
Edited on Mon Sep-20-10 10:43 AM by Cyrano
I’ve never had much respect for the average intelligence of the American people. I didn’t think that so many millions could possibly be any more ignorant than they are, but it seems I was wrong.

Yeah, I admit to feeling intellectually superior to them. But I also realize that they are victims who are being manipulated by those taking us into a greater economic disaster than that which currently exists.

Most of us know that today’s political environment is becoming ever more toxic and dangerous. The villains, for the most part, are the bought and paid for politicians and media. But the greater villains are the billionaires that foot the bill to ensure that we remain uninformed, misdirected and impotent to stop them. They couldn't care less if they end up stepping over our bodies lying in the streets.

Today’s column by Paul Krugman in “The New York Times” is about these masters of the universe. The super wealthy don’t want to pay any taxes. And they don’t care if the deficits are made up by gutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance and all the other “entitlements” that each of us paid for out of every paycheck we received.

You can read Krugman’s column at:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/20/opinion/20krugman.html?ref=opinion

Aside from the Koch brothers, Rupert Murdoch, Richard Mellon Scaife who tried to single-handedly destroy the Clintons, we don’t know the names of most of the puppeteers who own Washington, the MSM, and us. But make no mistake about it. They are controlling the minds of far too many. And this could very well lead to the end of the America that most of us have known.

So for those of you who don’t agree, fire away. And for those of you who agree with some of what I’ve posted here, I can only ask what do we do now?

1. These people want to be an aristocracy
They will not be satisfied until everyone other than the ultra-rich are serfs, indentured servants, or outright slaves. That's where they want to take us.

8. Good to see the thin varnish of their civility wearing off
Edited on Mon Sep-20-10 11:32 AM by Populist_Prole
As I've said in an earlier thread, they now actually believe they have the critical mass to say "screw you" rather than the "trust us" they have heretofore been saying. They want their big decisive do-or-die battle now. Thanks to their now open contempt for the working class, the tipping point of populism against them will soon snowball. I mean the fog is gone; wedge issues will shake out in even sharper relief.

Basically they feel that if they don't wrest control now; they never will.

5. It depends on how deep you believe the rot is
And how universal it is.

Politics is, under our current system, a rich mans game. A politician needs a certain amount of personal wealth, and, more importantly, a lot of wealthy buddies to support him.

Which is why we need reapportionment and complete public financing of campaigns.

6. I couldn't agree more, Bryant. The problem is, how do we get there?

7. and that's where the issue of the Rot comes in
Obviously there are plenty up at the top who like the current set up. Are there others who would want to see more democracy?
