9. That would be exceptionally stupid
Considering that even if they get the house, they won't have the Senate.

I notice there were not direct quotes from any actual politicians so it seems this may just be an assumption rather than fact.

I swear I thought this thing was parody, and part of me is still ready for Ashton Kutcher to leap out.

10. Many old republicans think that the Nixon/Watergate scandal was alll about
politics, and was fabricated by the Democrats and they do this shit as payback...at least that's their theory.
They do this because they have nothing to offer except this type of circus.

These people live in a fantasy world.
On what grounds would they impeach him, the BS in that article? They might as well claim that he's actually a Martian who's planning to take over Earth in the name of Mars. That would make as much sense.

14. According to the article,
somehow he's going to be convicted of the fact that the right wing doesn't like him. Apparently that's the "common law" "sovereign citizen" wacko definition of "mis-demeanor".

But I honestly would be concerned, because Clinton didn't do much more.

They'll never do it if they gained the Speaker's gavel.

All this is is pre-election bullshit.

Sure, all the rubes are eating it up... But, it'll never happen.

Remember, Republican voters are NOTORIOUS for never learning that the GOP is always full of shit.

Do you really believe that they will?

These are the reasons for impeachment

Treason
Conviction of treason
Conviction of Bribery
High Crimes and misdemeanors

Don't you need a charge to impeach? Also, they wouldn't like the precedent this would create.

I don't think even teabaggers are that nuts.

25. Au contraire!
The grounds for impeachment is generally what Congress says it is. Suppose the president just didn't show up for work. Spent every day in devoted meditation, or maybe golf. Is that grounds for impeachment?

26. No impeachment
1. An impeachable offense is anything a majority of the House thinks is an impeachable offense and a two-thirds majority of the Senate agrees.

2. The GOP learned their lesson on impeachment with Clinton. They won't make the mistake again of trying to impeach.

3. Pelosi took impeachment of Bush off the table, because she had visions that House impeachment and no finding of guilty in the Senate would result in Bush and Cheney strutting around the Rose Garden surrounded by GOP party leaders shouting about "vindication" and "validation" of their courses of action.

Considering the partisan divides and rancor over the history of the US, it is amazing that we have only come down to the wire three times on impeachment (Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton).

27. And how'd that last impeachment work out for them?
:eyes:

Bill Clinton's approval ratings skyrocketed, Republicans lost seats in the midterm election held in the middle of the whole thing and then lost some more in 2000 (along with the presidential election).

32. Something was seriously wrong in 2006 when Pelosi
took impeachment off the table; probably because both major parties and institutions were complicit in depth. The scapegoats for the impeachable crimes were in at best poor taste and a waste of $ and time, a distraction. Fitzmas was kabuki. Look at the result.

Obama compounded this mistake once by putting the issues of torture, pre-emptive war, lying to Congress and the public, spying illegally on US citizens, etc. in the past.

Obama further compounded by continuing many of GWB's policies and affirming GWB (who should at least be shunned).

I support Obama and voted and supported him in the campaign. I would note have knowing what has occurred.

I am not a neo-liberal while Obama and most of his cabinet are neo-liberals.

The FDR Democrats are not the problem but the solution.

34. A right wing controlled House will have unlimited subpoena power and WILL vote to impeach
Remember that years of Ken Starr's impeachment fishing expedition against Bill Clinton was very effective in halting any of his initiatives. The Clinton administration was hamstrung for years by the endless string of investigations. In the end, it didn't matter one whit whether the outcome was a successful impeachment or not, the psychotic right just wanted to keep the Democratic administration off kilter, always RESPONDING, always REACTING, allowing the Rethugs to control the agenda in DC.

That is why they will put every effort into investigations and impeachment proceedings.
