3. Oh, yeah, it was just a little surprising,
and it lasted quite a while. Apparently it was centered 10 miles SW of Anchorage, a 4.9. Not that big, but being so close it was pretty noticeable.

2. At first I thought you meant a member of the Shaker commune
And I was going to ask, "You mean there's someone left?"

9. Only 4.9, but very close to Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — An earthquake jolted Anchorage and was felt well beyond Alaska's largest city.

Earthquake monitors say the 4.9 magnitude quake struck at 1:24 p.m. Monday about 10 miles southwest of Anchorage.

Cindi Preller with the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center says there are no reports of injury or damage, but that people are reporting the earthquake "shook awful hard."

It was felt in Anchorage, Palmer, Wasilla and Chickaloon.

According to the tsunami warning center, the quake is not expected to generate a tsunami.

10. Sometime those little ones --
can really pack a whallop when they are nearby -- I am on bedrock but have been startled by some of the smaller quakes that have struck. Glad all is well up there! :hi:
