Some friends of mine (conservative friends, but friends who truly appreciate the value of good music) turned me on to this movie a couple of weeks ago. I highly recommend you give it a peek before the music industry truly self-destructs. http://www.beforethemusicdies.com/blog/b4md/You can watch the whole movie on-line here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/62945/before-the-music-dies

I truly appreciate the tutorial on how to create a shake-and-bake pop star. Hilarious.

4. One of the keywords is "emotional depth" |

I'll try not to reveal too much of the movie here, but I think some of the best music on the planet is music that you can make an emotional connection with. It's different for everybody, and it manifests in some of the most unusual forms. Kate Bush, with her own personal take on progressive rock, has a strong following in every English-speaking country except the United States. Johnny Cash's last big hit was a cover of a song by Nine Inch Nails in which he managed to outdo the original in emotional intensity. Lynyrd Skynyrd's Free Bird touches the heart and soul of every American vagabond, bad boy, and one-percenter, and that contributes to its staying power. I've personally seen grown women crying their eyes out at Ozzy Osbourne concerts in the past, and I don't think marijuana was to blame in this case.
But I really think you're gonna like this documentary. There's some great performances in there, too.

I'm finding some good music today by taking the road less travelled, and I'm happier for it.
