Why is it Americans will not learn from the rest of the world. John McCain says that |
|
the effects of removing DADT has to be studied. But countries like Britain, france, Canada already have experience with gays & lesbians in the military. Why does it always have to be a made in America solution. Why not learn from others. Hell you already outsource so much.
Is this a new phenomena?

1. Unsurprising from you. |
|
I'm surprised you're not blaming America for some Canadian issue. That's usually your soapbox.
Shocker: Countries often handle the same problem differently. DADT is going the way of the Dodo. Just like racial segregation.

Of course other countries have resolved this issue just fine, thank you very much. Ditto healthcare.
But de we care? No!
Why?
Because we want something different!

5. I used to watch American news in the late 1980s. There were more news stories on Canada then |
|
than there is now. I think this anti foreign influence is more GOP strategy: isolate Americans so they will not be influenced by the mixed market economies of Europe or Canada. I'm not sure but I have a feeling this is new. Is the whole American Exceptionalism thing pretty new or has it always been there maybe in the form of the Truman Doctrine or something?

And I'm no spring chicken
"Foreign" or "International" news has always been limited to those countries du jour the US is officially occupying with troops.

"poodle" was stupid enough to go into a chosen war. The Canadian foreign affairs department looked into the reasons Bush gave for going into Iraq and concluded "this intelligence follows no previous known pattern of intelligence" (in other words Canada's Prime Minister was told that America's reasons for going into Iraq were bullshit).

10. Their gays are not like our gays. Our gays tamed the West. Our gays conquered a continent. |
|
Our gays beat the British Empire at its height with little more than pluck, rifled muskets, and a few inspirational speeches by George Washington while freezing near to death at Yorktown. American gays crushed the Nazis, stormed Iwo Jima, held down the Alamo against an army 7000 strong. American gays can meet any challenge, defy any tyranny, defeat any foe. We as a nation have a long, proud history full of the toughest goddamn homosexuals in human history. No nation in history can match our fighting gays for sheer awesomeness. Before you put that tough a weapon in your arsenal, you better goddamn well know how to use it.

manufacturing (although I've heard American companies produce cars that get killer mileage that are only sold in Europe) - just about everything. I always think, why don't they study how other countries have accomplished ___________. They've gone through the learning curve, we could just implement the best.
And of course, DADT - Again, I just don't understand it.
