The New York Daily News reports that "an angry Andrew Cuomo summoned his war council to figure out how to fight back against his slash-and-burn GOP rival" Carl Paladino (R) in the race for New York Governor.

"The counterattack planning session came after Paladino issued a taunting letter that questioned Cuomo's manhood, ripped his pop's performance as governor - and taunted him to 'for the first time in your life be a man.'"

Cuomo's money quote: "If a guy says you have no cojones, how do you punch him back, call him an asshole?"

Near as I can tell, Paladino is dead meat. He plays well to the upstate element that truly believes all the state's problems are due to NYC, but he really brings nothing to the party.

It makes Paladino look small and Cuomo look big, despite his using harsher, nastier language. And I think New Yorkers appreciate someone who can call someone else an asshole, especially by "pretending" not to call him an asshole.
