I take umbrage when anyone, particularly our nationally-elected officials, do anything to hurt our
country, like instituting irresponsible fiscal policies or patently unfair tax policies, or taking our nation to pre-emptive war. :patriot:

1. Not me.
I delight in every step that our grand empire takes toward making itself into the second Rome. What could possibly go wrong?

2. Yep, grand empires have done so well over eons, so what does the US do, emulate
them...

3. Actually, empires have done quite well.
Some have been short lived, but some existed far longer than the U.S. has been a twinkle in the eye of that guy in the city on the hill.

I oppose empires because imperial policy tends to short change individual rights. But they can be long lived and stable forms of government.

quickly!

I too "oppose empires because imperial policy tends to short change individual rights."

I guess a strong dictatorial empire can lead to a long lived and stable form of government? ... but of course the majority of those under it well might not enjoy it...
