POLICE have arrested two occupants of an allegedly speeding white Mercedes pulled over on the M1 at Parkwood this morning.
Officers were searching for a white Holden Commodore stolen during an armed hold-up at the Parkwood Tavern when they spotted the late-model E350 Coupe.
The car was pulled over and the male driver breathalysed on the roadside.
He allegedly blew a blood-alcohol reading of 0.166 - more than three times the legal limit - and was charged with driving under the influence of liquor.
But it was his male passenger who really surprised police when a hard object was allegedly found in his underpants, during a pat-down search.
He told police it was just his mobile phone but the officer soon discovered it was in fact a loaded handgun.
Police said he had no plausible explanation for carrying the gun.
Both men were taken back to Coomera police station and are expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
