Digby: "Bush is personally on the run, now. They should chase him" (on Ashcroft hospital visit)
Digby: "This was a direct question about whether he ordered Card and Gonzales to go over to Ashcroft's room in the Intensive-Care Unit to get him to sign off on a program that he had already said he would not sign off on. ... It would be nice of all the 'Democratic strategists' pushed this today when they appear on the gasbag shows. Bush is personally on the run, now. They should chase him. "

Atrios: "Back in those happy days in the 90s, if Clinton had refused to answer a question like this a shitstorm would've erupted. Ted Koppel would've put up a '17 days and still no answer' clock. Tweety would have had 37 blond conservative lawyers on every night to demand 'accountability'. etc... etc...

1. I agree - dog the SOB about it. Every question should be "would you
answer the question about ordering Card and Gonzalez to the hospital?"

Over and over and over again.

Force the SOB to fess up. There's something there.

5. Ain't going to happen
The soft librul media will be too chicken-shit to ask the tough question.

Mr pResident, Mr pResident; Whats your favorite flavor of ice cream?

17. That was a scripted question.
Did you see Bill Moyers' "Selling the War"? He showed that "press" conference, including Chimpy saying, "This is scripted." The people who asked questions were plants, with real journalists there for "credibility".

2. High and low, High: Koppel with his 17 days and Tweety with his
37 blond conservative lawyers. Woweee! That was great!

Low: Democrats chasing Bush. First, you have to kick out the chair from under some of them.

Now is the time to take a minute and thank Waxman and Conyers and a good number of others.

But, where are the Landrieaus, Nelsons, and others - I resent the tight little off to the side chairs and voices.

4. If the Dems were organized like the Repubs the tv would have
been flooded with House and Senate members, talking heads from think tanks, DNC staffers, and other paid pundits for the past two days, through the coming weekend, and for the next month.

The Repubs would cancel all of their vacations, schedule an auditorium that will hold several hundred of their hacks, order them to attend, and get everyone of the same talking points so that they can weaponize the propaganda.

The Dems - we wait (hope) for the media to make a story out of it and we go on vacation.

6. The Dems know full and well how to get hold of the media
They also have the people available to get said what needs being said. (And if they did need someone they could avail themselves of the progressive pit bull wing of their party!!) But they rarely, RARELY use the media the way it deserves to be used (and abused), and it pisses me off NO END.

Is it that they don't understand the fundamentals of BASIC COMMUNICATION, or they just aren't INTERESTED?

8. The "Strategists" are too busy hand-wringing over people on DU who criticize Jerry Falwell
And trying to figure out if Democratic nominees should admit they believe in evolution. You know, so we can "woo the values voter". :eyes:

Quick! Call Bob Shrum! He'll know what to do!

12. Dems in Congress do not want to Impeach Bush/Cheney.
No matter what crimes have been commited by Busholini, Cheney and the rest, the Dems in Congress will refuse to Impeach any member of the Regime. Why?

14. President Cheney?
For one thing, IMHO the Repugs are going to have to turn on Bush first (that is what happened w Nixon and Watergate -- it took the repugs getting on board for anything to happen). However these Repugs seem pretty controlled by MC ROVE>

Secondly Cheney has to go first -- is there really time to get rid of Cheney, then Bush? Because I am pretty sure if Cheney is sworn in, he will declare himself King of the USA>

18. I can hear the question now...
"Mr. President, isn't it true that you only sent Gonzales to deliver a get-well card to Attorney General Ashcroft?"
