Anti-Dem Propaganda Watch #18 - "Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban" - Blames Obama
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 02:10 PM by TomCADem
Once again, Republicans are given a free pass. All Republicans voted against the military appropriation bill with Susan Collins complaining that Democrats were not being bi-partisan enough. So, who do they highlight among gay rights advocates? A quote from someone blaming President Obama.

Really? The corporate news media could not find one gay rights advocate who blamed the Republicans for their uniform opposition to the measure? John McCain flip flops on this issue, after saying that he would support a repeal of DADT, and leads a filibuster, and he is not at fault? Not a single gay rights advocate holds John McCain accountable?

Will liberals and progressives buy into the corporate media narrative?

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, the only Republican to support repealing the law and widely seen as the crucial 60th vote, announced Tuesday that she would not support advancing the bill because Democrats wouldn't allow the Republicans sufficient leeway to offer amendments.

Now, gay rights advocates say they worry they have lost a crucial opportunity to change the law. If Democrats lose seats in the upcoming elections this fall, repealing the law will prove even more difficult — if not impossible — next year.

"The whole thing is a political train wreck," said Richard Socarides, a former White House adviser on gay rights during the Clinton administration.

Socarides said President Barack Obama "badly miscalculated" the Pentagon's support for repeal, while Democrats made only a "token effort" to advance the bill.

5. Obama could by executive order ignore all requests for discharge on DODT basis.
He could have done that on day one and he still can do that, but he has not..

7. Republicans Try To Make Tax Cuts To The Rich Permanent, But Democrats Are Blamed For Deficit
The narrative of giving Republicans a free pass continues. Worse, when the media actively spreads these lies, the media then blames Democrats for not doing enough to counter the lies it helps spread.
